On Monday, Riot Games announced the introduction of the Cash Cups for the VALORANT Game Changers EMEA scene. Presented as a monthly tournament series, these events are designed to provide teams on the Game Changers EMEA circuit with more matches, more opportunities, and more earnings.
The Cash Cups are described as open to all eligible players and teams across EMEA Game Changers, featuring a €2,000 prize pool for each cup. The announcement also highlights a direct connection to the competitive pathway, positioning the circuit as a “road to” the GC EMEA Stage 3 Play-ins, the Stage 3 Finals, and the GC Championship.
A fresh start for the GC EMEA
Three initial events are outlined in the announcement: #1 EVC Tournaments, scheduled for February; #2 Ready4.gg in March; and #3 King Esport in April, all presented as new events under the Cash Cups format.
In the statement, Tomek Borowka, Product Manager for VALORANT Esports, notes that early feedback surrounding the Cash Cups has been highly encouraging. He adds that the demand to host or take part in these events is clearly present, and that the aim is to see which teams will qualify for Stage 3 through this newly established competitive pathway, one intended to further spotlight a scene that is steadily growing and continuing to welcome new talent each year.
