Caedrel confirms that Los Ratones won't be in ERL next season
What will happen to Los Ratones after the end of the LEC Versus? As the team owned by streamer Marc "Caedrel" Lamont prepares to compete in the upcoming LEC split under Riot Games’ new format, the team’s owner stated on his Twitch stream on Sunday that he does not know what the future holds for his roster, but confirmed that it will not be competing in the ERL.
A few weeks ago, Caedrel had already announced that his team would not be participating in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) next season. He has now clarified that Los Ratones will simply not be part of any ERL next year, leaving considerable uncertainty surrounding the team’s future.
A final chapter for LR?
When asked by a viewer about the future of Los Ratones after LEC Versus, Caedrel admitted that he has no clear vision of what will come next. “I’m not sure what’s happening after the LEC for LR. There are some things that could happen. There are some things that might not happen.” He then dismissed the possibility of competing in an ERL next season. “Some people say: are you going to LFL? No, we’re not going. We won’t be playing in Tier 2. We will see, but the project has been great and playing in LEC is awesome.”
For now, Los Ratones has no pathway to enter a major league, and if it does not intend to continue in an ERL, the team’s future remains unresolved. Caedrel’s project brought significant viewership and extensive content around a roster composed of former LEC players such as Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, Juš "Crownie" Marušič, and Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek, alongside streamer Simon "Thebausffs" Hofverberg and young talent Veljko "Velja" Čamdžić.
Over the course of a single year, the team claimed all three NLC titles and secured two EMEA Masters trophies. LR also offered unique content to fans, notably by streaming its scrims. The Los Ratones adventure may come to an end after a short but remarkable run—unless a more compelling project emerges for the team in the future.
