FUT Esports is not the not only team that has faced technical issues at VALORANT Champions Shanghai

On September 30, FUT Esports lost its Playoffs qualification match against 100 Thieves 2-0 at VALORANT Champions Shanghai. While the Turkish organisation will have another chance to secure a Playoffs spot through the Lower Bracket, the roster and coaching staff expressed their frustration over the technical issues they experienced during the match.
Check out everything FUT Esports shared during the post-match press conference about its loss to 100 Thieves, its experience at the tournament so far, and how they will reset for the next matchup.
You faced some technical issues on Split. You also tweeted about the mouse and PC freezing issues. Could you describe the problems you’ve experienced throughout the event and how they have affected you in-game?
Eray "yetujey" Budak: “First of all, I’m sorry. I don’t want to be disrespectful to you guys, but I don’t care about Riot, so I will not join this.”
Doğan "xeus" Gözgen: “These issues have been persisting since the tournament began, and they’re still continuing. The solutions that have been found or attempted are really elementary and don’t seem to work. In the round where the issue happened, I had a Spectre with 30 bullets. That round was 100% ours, but there was no rollback. The guns we had were the ones we picked up from the opponents after we killed them.
Had I been able to shoot, that momentum would have carried us into a 3-0 and probably put us in a really good position. But my gun didn’t shoot, and the round wasn’t rolled back. I couldn’t even pull out my Classic. Technical issues have been happening throughout the event. sociablEE (Volkan Yönal) has been having audio issues, and I’ve also been dealing with repeated technical problems. I hope these issues can eventually be resolved.”
Berke "Vlad" Kantürk: “I’ll add to that. xeus’ (Doğan Gözgen) PC had already been diagnosed with some issues before we left the stage for a tech check. We went up to the stage for a quick check, and he had already been experiencing these issues. He was also the last player to leave the stage.
During Round 2, what happened took place right in front of everyone. We had a compliance meeting about this exact kind of situation one week ago, and the guys told us that even if there was some kind of damage to a player, a rollback could be considered in these situations.
Then this happened in a 2v1. What else do we need for a rollback? Everyone saw that his gun didn’t shoot for a second, and then it was too late, he was dead. I’m really surprised by the decision from the admins and referees. We had a lot of audio and lighting issues. The admins told us that the lighting had been set up that way for a week, but our team said it wasn’t like that during the JDG game.
We had been struggling with the lighting issue for around six rounds, while he was also having audio issues throughout Split. The only feedback we were getting from the referees was, “Just plug your earphones off and on again.” It was unbearable, to be honest.”
How do you keep your players mentally focused after a frustrating map like Split? It seemed like Lotus went a lot better for you despite the outcome.
Vlad: “Even though we lost Split in a difficult way, we felt that we lost the game to ourselves. There were also rounds where our PCs froze, so Round 2 wasn’t the only issue. We talked to each other and said, “We have to leave everything behind, deal with what we have, and focus on what’s in front of us.” Every round was important because we had built a lot of momentum in the first half.
The second half was unfortunate, 100 Thieves is a good opponent. I think they’re one of the favorites in this tournament as well. But if we can play in an environment without technical problems, hopefully we’ll have an opportunity to get our revenge in the Playoffs.”
Tyler "Bambino" Jay: “To follow up, we can only control what we can control. There are certain things that are outside our sphere of influence. What happened on that map happened, and I think it played a part in why the game went the way it did. But we had to refocus and focus on what was within our control.”
What did you talk about with the team after the first map, considering both the result and the technical issues that affected you? What did you say to help them reset mentally and perform better on the second map?
Vlad: “I think we pretty much answered this already. Just like Bambino (Tyler Jay) said, we focused on what we could control rather than what we couldn’t. We had to refocus, reset mentally, and discuss the next map. Basically, we had to leave the previous map in the past and focus on what was ahead.”
