Dragon Ranger Gaming, an organization now well known among VALORANT fans, are set to expand their presence in Beijing’s esports industry after signing an agreement to develop an esports hotel complex in Shijingshan District. The deal was formalized on October 24 during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Jingxi Esports Festival, as local authorities continue to invest in the district’s gaming ecosystem.
The project involves Jingshi Culture & Tourism, a company linked to the district’s cultural and tourism sector. However, the announcement did not disclose the planned location, investment amount, construction schedule, or expected capacity of the complex.
Shijingshan expands its esports infrastructure
Located in western Beijing, around 14 km from Tiananmen Square, Shijingshan is a central urban district with a history rooted in the capital’s industrial development. The area is now seeking to diversify its economy by investing in emerging sectors, including gaming and esports, with Shougang Park serving as a focal point for competitions, exhibitions, and industry events.
The district reported 135 gaming and esports-related companies generating more than RMB 24.81 billion (US$3.72 billion) in annual revenue. Its efforts to attract businesses include dedicated support measures for the sector, while the opening of the Shougang Park Esports Center in March 2026 added a specialized venue to its existing infrastructure. DRG’s relocation to the district in June 2025 is part of this broader industry cluster.
DRG secure another season in VCT China
Founded in 2016, DRG compete across several games, including Honor of Kings, The Finals, Delta Force, Naraka: Bladepoint and VALORANT. Although DRG were not selected among the permanent partner teams for the 2027-2028 VCT cycle, they secured a place in VCT China 2027 through competition. The organization defeated Nova Esports 3-0 in the VCT Threshold China 2026 Week 1 Grand Final on October 25, earning a guest team slot for the upcoming season. It will mark DRG’s fourth consecutive appearance in VCT China.
Having reached the highest level of Riot Games’ FPS through competition in 2023 by winning the Ascension tournament, the organization has since become a notable name in the Chinese league. In 2024, the club qualified for its first Masters event, and not just any Masters, but the first one held in China, in Shanghai. It then qualified for Champions Paris in 2025 before securing a spot at London in 2026 for the season’s second Masters event.
