Released in China on August 19,
VALORANT Mobile has reached a new milestone, surpassing ten million daily active players in the country alone, according to an announcement made on
Weibo. For now, the community is still waiting for a potential international release, although the North American publisher has yet to communicate on the matter. By comparison, Riot Games revealed in October 2023 that the PC version was recording nearly 28 million monthly players, according to a
Bloomberg report.
The biggest mobile launch of 2025 in China, according to
Tencent’s financial report published on November 13, the game has also proven to be a financial success for Tencent. Co-developed by Riot Games and its Chinese parent company, the title reportedly generated close to $1 million on iOS and reached 170,000 downloads on its first day, according to
Bloomberg.
The momentum continued with more than 50 million combined monthly active users between VALORANT Mobile and the PC version in China, as announced last November, while the latter had already peaked at two million active players in a single day in the country more than six months ago.
Waiting for news
This rapid success was also driven by a pre-registration campaign that surpassed 70 million sign-ups and a mobile adaptation that stayed faithful to the PC experience at launch, featuring around 20 agents, seven maps and multiple game modes. Tencent supported this growth through major investments, including an esports-focused strategy with the launch of a national league and the involvement of major Chinese organizations such as EDward Gaming and All Gamers, alongside an already established university scene.
Even before release, Tencent and Riot had also announced a
$200 million multi-year investment plan to develop content, strengthen infrastructure, and build a sustainable competitive ecosystem, positioning
VALORANT Mobile as a long-term asset.

On the gameplay side, it remains difficult to follow updates for non-Chinese players, especially with most information shared via Weibo, even though a dedicated community continues to keep the game alive, particularly on the esports side, while waiting for a proper global release.
In the latest major update in early April, Tencent introduced Vyse to VALORANT Mobile, alongside a 6v6 Warm-up Team Deathmatch mode, a format already available on PC but traditionally played in 5v5. The All Random One Site mode, which appeared earlier this year for three months on the original version, has also been added to mobile in a “Spike Chaos” variant, featuring randomized agents and weapons.
