T1 Peyz: "It would have been incredibly frustrating and disappointing if we had ended the season with a lossâ
Following the match against Dplus KIA, Kim âPeyzâ Su-hwan spoke with Sheep Esports about his overall assessment of the dayâs match, his evaluation of his first year with T1, and his expectations for the upcoming match against Hanwha Life Esports.

T1 continue their journey toward winning the LCK title. In Sundayâs match, T1 defeated Dplus KIA 3â1 to advance to the next stage. Despite winning the World Championship three years in a row, the team has struggled to claim the top spot in their domestic league, with their last LCK title coming in the 2022 Spring Split.
T1 will now face Hanwha Life Esports once again in the Losersâ Final, with a spot in the LCK Grand Final on the line. Hanwha Life were the team that previously handed them a reverse-sweep defeat. If they win next weekâs match at KSPO Dome, they will advance to the LCK Grand Final, where they will face defending LCK champions Gen.G.
Following the series against Dplus KIA, Kim âPeyzâ Su-hwan spoke with Sheep Esports about his overall assessment of the match, his first year with T1, and his expectations for their upcoming rematch against Hanwha Life Esports.
How do you feel about the victory, and how would you assess the series overall?
Peyz: âI wasnât particularly satisfied with my individual performance today, but in the end, Iâm happy that we won and made it through to the next stage.
You reached 1,500 career kills in the LCK today. Looking back on that milestone, is there a particular moment or match that stands out to you the most from your LCK career so far?
Peyz: Rather than a specific moment related to reaching 1,500 kills, when I look back on my career and the records Iâve achieved, the first thing that comes to mind is winning my first championship as a âRoyal Roader.â
Today was an elimination match, so losing would have brought your LCK season to an immediate end. Did you feel a different kind of pressure heading into the arena?
Peyz: I feel like our team has been improving recently, and I also think our desire to win is still very strong. I felt that it would have been incredibly frustrating and disappointing if we lost today and our season ended there, so I came into the match determined to win. Iâm glad we managed to do it.
Your previous series against Hanwha Life had both some strong moments and a disappointing result. What kind of feedback did you and the team share before going into todayâs series?
Peyz: When we lost to Hanwha Life, it felt less like we lost because they played exceptionally well and more like we lost because we didnât play well enough ourselves. So we focused on fixing the areas where we fell short. We went into todayâs match believing that if we addressed those weaknesses, we could beat anyone.
You won Game 1, but there were probably still some frustrating moments. It was a back-and-forth game where momentum kept shifting between the two teams. Looking back, what do you think you could have done better?
Peyz: I think the biggest disappointment was giving the opponent kills during the laning phase. That made the game much more difficult for us. Still, Iâm glad we stayed focused and managed to make a good comeback.
Although you lost Game 2, you picked Mel and showed a very strong presence in lane. It was a pick we hadnât seen much on stage for a while. What led you to bring it back today?
Peyz: Iâd always been keeping an eye out for the right opportunity to play it. With the recent drafting trends, there werenât many chances to pick Mel in best-of-three series, but I thought there might be opportunities to use her in a best-of-five, so I practiced her from time to time.
This is your first season with T1, and youâve been competing for a league title alongside the team since the beginning of the season. Compared with what you envisioned at the start of the year, how does this moment feel now?
Peyz: After returning to the LCK, I wanted to make it to the finals or win the championship. I feel like weâre now just one or two steps away from reaching that point. I want to make good use of the time we have left and make it to the final.
If you were to evaluate your first year with T1, how satisfied are you with your performance this year? If you had to put a percentage on it, what would you give yourself?
Peyz: I think there have been moments when I played well and moments when I didnât. I tend to remember the moments I wasnât satisfied with more than anything else, so Iâd say Iâm more than 50% satisfiedâprobably around 60%.
In a previous interview, you said that you wanted to be remembered at T1 as âmore than just a player who played for the team, but as a player the team truly neededâ. Looking at where you are now, do you feel youâve achieved that to some extent?
Peyz: I think being a player that the team truly needs requires you to be extremely good at the game, and I do think Iâm good myself. But I also believe I can become even better. If I improve further and become a better player here, I think I can eventually become the kind of player that the team truly needs.
Youâll now face Hanwha Life again in the Losersâ Final, with a place in the LCK Grand Final at stake. What do you think will be the key factors in this rematch?
Peyz: I think weâre both strong teams. Because of that, rather than saying one particular lane will be the deciding factor, I think every lane will be important. The overall draft and how weâre feeling on the day will also be very important.
Weâve been asking every player this question: if you could play exactly one game with a single retired professional player, who would you choose? It doesnât have to be someone who played the same role as you.
Peyz: Hmm, heâs not actually a retired player, but Iâd like to play one game with Deft (Kim Hyuk-kyu), who is currently serving in the military. Heâs someone Iâve respected and looked up to since I was young, and when Iâve played against him, Iâve always felt that he was one of the best. Thatâs why Iâd choose him.
Finally, with the Losersâ Final coming up, is there anything youâd like to say to the T1 fans?
Peyz: Weâve made it all the way to the Losersâ Final. Itâs been a very long time since T1 won the league, and I know our fans want us to win more than anyone. Weâll prepare as well as we can so that we can live up to their expectations, and weâll work hard to repay all the support theyâve given us over the years by bringing them a championship.â
