DFM star set for CR return

Ibuki "Meiy" Seki, who played for Crazy Raccoon in 2022, is expected to return to the Japanese organization ahead of the next VCT Pacific season, sources tell Sheep Esports. Meiy, who has by far been the best-performing Japanese player in the league in 2026 with DetonatioN FocusMe, saw his team miss out on a partnership spot for the next 2027-2028 VALORANT Champions Tour cycle, while CR was among the new organizations to secure a place.
Crazy Raccoon is therefore one of the new organizations, alongside GAM, to join Riot Games' partnership program, and more specifically the Pacific league, where it will become Japan's second representative alongside ZETA Division. Best known for its presence in Overwatch, the club is also a pioneer in esports, having adopted an unusual business model by becoming sponsor-free after ending its final sponsorship agreement with GALERIA last September.
Complex years for DFM
During his three years with DFM, Meiy never achieved particularly strong competitive results, despite his individual statistics, as the project struggled to find consistent momentum. In 2024 and 2025, the Japanese organization managed to reach mid-table at best, more often than not finishing near the bottom of the standings.
Finally, 2026 got off to a positive start, with DFM securing fifth place and coming close to qualifying for an international LAN for the first time, something the team had never achieved outside of LOCK//IN in 2023, when all teams were invited to compete. This positive momentum almost carried over into Stage 1, where DetonatioN reached the VCT Pacific playoffs for only the second time in its history, finishing fourth in Group Omega ahead of the other two Japanese organizations, ZETA and VARREL. Their playoff run ended in the first round with a 2-1 loss to Rex Regum Qeon.
Although the team also missed out on qualification for the Esports World Cup, Meiy managed to lead his country to the Esports Nations Cup Main Event after a relatively straightforward Asian qualifier. The final event has since been postponed to 2027, partly due to tensions in the Middle East. Back in Seoul for the final stage of the season, DFM delivered mixed results. The team first put together a solid group stage, recording three wins and two losses, before stumbling in the opening round of the Play-In against Sharper Esports, a Tier 2 team. Dropping straight into the lower bracket, the Japanese organization then secured wins against QT DIG, another Japanese Tier 2 team, and ZETA DIVISION before losing to T1 in the decisive match for a playoff spot.
