Eric “Independent” Ruiz Bogurina is set to join Movistar KOI in the LEC as an Assistant Coach, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. The Spanish coach will take over the position previously held by Quentin "Zeph" Viguié, who was well known for his drafting work within the staff.

Movistar KOI, who enjoyed one of their most consistent seasons in 2025 and are set to retain their entire roster for 2026 as announced by Ibai Llanos, co-owner of Movistar KOI, and Sergio "SergioFFerra" Salcedo, aim to maintain momentum under head coach Tomás "Melzhet" Campelos. He will be working alongside Barney "Alphari" Morris who makes a return to the LEC.

At 27, Independent has already built a strong reputation in the Spanish coaching scene. He began his career in Liga Nexo before making his mark with Ramboot Club, leading them from the second division to the LVP Superliga. Under his guidance, Ramboot qualified for their first-ever (and only) EMEA Masters in Summer 2024, a historic milestone for the organization.

Following that success, Independent joined Los Heretics in 2025 alongside his longtime botlaner Khalil "Rin" Sahraoui. Their partnership brought impressive results: Heretics claimed the Winter Split title, finished third in Spring and second in Summer, and eventually reached the EMEA Masters Grand Final in the Summer edition. Although they did not manage to become champions, the work paid off and a great improvement could be seen throughout the year from both the players and the staff.
