Mundo Dodgeball tournament launches across EU and NA with 1 Bitcoin grand prize

Coinbase has announced an unconventional League of Legends community competition centered around Mundo Dodgeball, a popular 1v1 mini-game where two players face off as Dr. Mundo using only their Q ability to hit each other like a game of dodgeball inside the Baron Nashor pit. The twist: the entire cash prize pool is a single Bitcoin, currently valued at approximately €75,000 ($85,000), making it one of the largest single prizes ever offered for a community-driven LoL event. For context, the total LEC Summer 2025 prize pool was €80,000, split among the top four teams.

The competition will be split into two parallel tracks: an invitational bracket featuring prominent content creators and ambassadors, and an open qualifier open to anyone. Confirmed participants in the creator tournament include Alois_NL, MrSchimchim, Pobelter, Skyyart, and Tyler1, with events scheduled across both Europe and North America. Matches will be Best-of-Three, while semi-final and final matches shall be played as Best-of-Five. The EU and NA Online Open Qualifier champion will both earn a spot at the finals stage in New York City, along with two tickets to the Worlds finals. The top two finishers from both the EU and NA Creator Cups will also qualify for the New York finals, each receiving two tickets to the Worlds finals.

Mundo Dodgeball has long been a staple of LoL’s custom game scene. Matches take place in the Baron pit, divided by two wards placed by the players to form a makeshift net. Each competitor is limited to Dr. Mundo’s Q, has only boots and a control ward, and is granted one Flash per game. Rune setup are entirely up to the players, as well as cosmetic contents. The result is a fast-paced, skill-shot-heavy duel that rewards precision, timing, and psychological reads—more akin to a reflex-based arcade shooter than traditional League gameplay.

By building an official tournament around this fan-made format, Coinbase and LoL Esports are leaning into community culture rather than imposing a top-down competitive structure. The choice of a single Bitcoin as the prize further underscores the crossover appeal between crypto enthusiasts and the LoL player base.
