On September 15, two days after claiming victory at the
LCK Finals,
Gen.G CEO Arnold Hur posted his thoughts on X regarding the
Sporting Financial Regulations revisions announced in the LCK rulebook ahead of finals week.
Arnold stated that Gen.G does not hold a veto over LCK rule changes and acknowledged that the revision poses a significant challenge for the organization, emphasizing that they will not use it as an excuse and will instead find a way to win within the new system: "Gen.G doesn't have a vote on the SFR and we don't have a veto. [...] And yeah... this change does make things harder for us. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't, but I'm not going to use it as an excuse either. [...] The game changed and it didn't change in our favor, so now we go figure out how to win under it."
On September 8, LCK announced updates to its regulations, introducing adjustments to the Sporting Financial Regulations, particularly regarding the luxury tax threshold and criteria for top-performing players. Under the updated rules, teams are permitted salary exemptions for a maximum of two top-performing players, while exemptions exceeding this cap are granted solely to players under pre-existing long-term contracts.
This leaves
in a challenging position. While Jeong '
' Ji-hoon and Park '
' Jae-hyuk already qualify for exemptions, the organization cannot apply the same relief to Kim '
' Ki-in and Kim '
' Geon-bu, both of whose contracts expire this year.
Arnold had previously stated that
he would address the situation once Grand Finals concluded, and he shared his thoughts after securing the LCK title.
