G2 Gozen defeat Gentle Mates to win Game Changers EMEA Stage 3

G2 Gozen won the Game Changers EMEA Stage 3 this Sunday, August 30, the competitive VALORANT circuit reserved for women and marginalized genders. Facing Gentle Mates in the Grand Final in Istanbul, Turkey, the German organization’s roster came out on top 3-2, securing the European region’s first seed for the Game Changers Championship, which will take place in São Paulo at the end of October.

After a year in which G2 Gozen never left the podium across the three competitive splits, the team finally claimed the title in the last one, securing a first-place finish that had eluded them until now. They first finished in the top 2 behind Gentle Mates in Stage 1, before eventually taking third place in the second split, behind SK Nebula and M8 once again. They ultimately had to wait until the end of the EMEA season to claim a title, defeating the French organization and ending a six-match losing streak against them dating back to the start of the year.

Despite the defeat, Gentle Mates will take EMEA’s second seed for the GC Championship, the equivalent of VALORANT Champions for this scene, while SK Nebula completes the trio. For now, only EMEA, which has the most teams qualified for the event, knows which teams it will send to the Championship, with China, Asia, and the Americas still in the concluding stages of their respective competitive seasons.

Unlike their two European counterparts, G2 Gozen is far more accustomed to these international events, having never missed a qualification for the World Championship since its introduction in 2022. The organization won that inaugural edition, with Michaela "mimi" Lintrup already on its roster, serving as its face and captain for several years now. This is therefore a highly experienced roster, with two of its players, alongside mimi, having participated in at least three editions of the GC Championship, namely Aleyna "Vania" Keskin and Nur "eva" Çakır. With Esllene "Akita" Xu and Amy "amy" Lai completing the lineup, G2 Gozen should therefore be one of the favorites to lift the trophy at the 2026 edition.
