The road has not been the easiest, but following the opening matches of the
LCK playoffs,
have secured their place at the
2026 World Championship. By defeating
KT Rolster 3–1 this Friday,
and his teammates have reached the LCK top four, while simultaneously sending their opponents to the
Demacia Cup Global Invitational.
Having been swept 3-0 by the same KT Rolster side just a few days ago, there was reason for concern for DK. After a simple series, it was difficult to recognize the team that had won the Esports World Cup just a few weeks earlier before carrying that momentum into the second half of the LCK season. The team had even come close to disaster the previous day, being down 2-0 against BNK FEARX. Within just a few games, DK rediscovered their form and produced performances good enough to reach the top four.
Having completed a reverse sweep the previous day, Dplus KIA came into the series determined to get their revenge. Game 1 nevertheless suggested that the series could follow a similar script to their previous meeting, with KT Rolster comfortably taking control. DK bounced back in a much tighter second game that lasted 42 minutes and was marked by sustained tension. From there, the team’s preparation and drafting made the difference, leaving KT with very few opportunities to exploit their strengths.
The difference was also made by AD Carry
. The EWC final MVP put in one of his best performances and took responsibility for giving his team a comfortable advantage in each of their victories. He was well supported by
, who needed to bounce back after a particularly poor performance in the opening game.
With this victory, DK return to the most prestigious competition in the game after missing out last year. Smash, Career, and
will all be making their World Championship debuts, but before that, they will have three more matches to win if they are to lift the LCK title. Their next challenge will come against T1 this Sunday.
