Caps explains his choice of Tristana for the Hall of Legends skin

On Sunday, August 16, Rasmus "" Winther became the third player inducted into the Hall of Legends, following Lee "" Sang-hyeok and Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao. Each inductee receives skins made in their honor, and the ones chosen by the European GOAT have sparked some discussion among fans, particularly his choice of Tristana, which received both the Risen Legend and Immortalized Legend versions.

In a video published by Riot Games, Caps explained his choice of Tristana and the skin’s sci-fi-inspired design. He also discussed working behind the scenes with Riot’s developers throughout the skin’s creation. While Tristana is not the champion he has played the most throughout his career, the champion holds significant meaning for him and has been the source of some of his best moments as a professional player.

For Caps, Tristana is a champion he has had a lot of fun playing competitively, making her particularly important to him despite not being his most-played champion. He notably secured solo kills on Faker during the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational and Jeong "" Ji-hoon at the 2023 World Championship while playing Tristana.

Caps also revealed that Riot presented him with several different options for the skin, including a version closer to the designs of the previous two Hall of Legends releases, with a more golden aesthetic. While this was what some fans had hoped for, Caps felt that the purple version better represented what he wanted to see in-game. The skin also has a strong sci-fi influence, which Caps described as "a way of showcasing the future, advanced technology."

He concluded the presentation by shifting the focus back to his competitive ambitions, with the World Championship firmly in his sights. G2 are currently just one best-of-five away from qualifying, and given the level the team has shown, they should be among the three LEC teams heading to Worlds. The question now is whether the Samurai can make a deep run in the United States this year.
