TYLOO and
Xi Lai Gaming (XLG) became the first teams eliminated from
VALORANT Champions Shanghai on Thursday October 1, following defeats against
Team Liquid and
Nongshim RedForce, respectively. Both Chinese representatives fell in their first elimination matches, ending their campaigns at the international tournament.
While Team Liquid recovered from a map loss to defeat TYLOO 2-1, Nongshim RedForce secured a 2-0 victory over XLG in a closely contested series. The results set up decisive matches for October 3, with Team Liquid facing
G2 Esports and Nongshim RedForce taking on
Karmine Corp, both fighting for places in the playoffs.
Team Liquid dismantle TYLOO on Lotus
Team Liquid defeated TYLOO 2-1 after a dominant performance on Lotus, completing the series with a 13-2 victory. The European team had opened the map with a 12-0 lead before TYLOO finally managed to get on the board. Liquid then closed out the match on the following round, becoming the first team to eliminate an opponent at Champions Shanghai.
The series began on Split, where Team Liquid took the map 13-8. TYLOO responded on Summit, delivering a strong defensive performance and winning all the rounds on that side to level the series with a 13-7 victory.
However, the Chinese team struggled to replicate that performance on Lotus. Team Liquid controlled the decider from the start, conceding just two rounds to secure the series and end TYLOO's tournament run.
Nongshim RedForce eliminate XLG
Nongshim RedForce also secured their place in the next stage of the competition after defeating Xi Lai Gaming 2-0. Unlike Team Liquid's decisive finish, both maps were tightly contested, with NS winning each by the same 13-11 scoreline.
The opening map, Summit, remained close throughout, but Nongshim found the rounds needed to take the lead in the series. XLG had another opportunity to respond on Sunset, yet the South Korean team once again prevailed 13-11 to complete the sweep.
Two playoff spots on the line on October 3
The next round of the group stage will determine which teams advance to the Champions Shanghai playoffs and which will see their campaigns end.
Team Liquid will face G2 Esports in the Group C decider after eliminating TYLOO. G2 previously defeated TYLOO 2-0 in the opening round, while Liquid lost to
Paper Rex before securing their elimination-stage victory.
In Group D, Nongshim RedForce will meet Karmine Corp, the EMEA Champions. NS lost to
NRG in their opening match, while KC also fell to NRG in the upper-bracket final after defeating XLG.
Both matches are scheduled for October 3, with the winners securing the remaining playoff spots in their respective groups.
