Originally, South Korea's
League of Legends national team was set to face the United States and Taiwan as part of
their preparations for the Asian Games. However, Vietnam will ultimately replace Taiwan in the matchup. Both games are still scheduled to take place on September 19 and 20 in Busan, with the series being played as best-of-five matches.
The teams for the matchups have also been revealed. The United States will not be fielding its strongest roster, with only
one LCS player included. The team will consist of Dignitas' Noah "
Denathor" Erikson in the toplane, Conviction's Perry Chen "
Perry" Norman in the jungle, Maryville's Jonny "
AoJune" Chen in the midlane, Maryville’s Jeremiah "
ScaryJerry" Leathe and Conviction's Ryan "
Zyko" Jung as the botlane duo.
On the Vietnamese side, the roster will be more competitive and will feature Team Secret Whales' Nguyễn "Pun" Đăng Khoa and GAM Esports' Trần "Kiaya" Duy in the toplane, TSW's trio of Lê "Hizto" Văn Hoàng Hải, Trần "Dire" Duy Đức and Hoàng "Eddie" Công Nghĩa in the jungle, midlane and AD Carry positions, respectively, alongside GAM's Đinh "Taki" Anh Tài at support.
Warmups for the Asian Games
These two matches will serve as a warm-up for the Korean national team ahead of the Asian Games, which will take place from September 30 to October 2 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Japan.
In preparation for these two matches and the 2026 Asian Games as a whole, all nine Team Korea esports rosters competing across the different disciplines will gather in Busan for training camps ahead of the event. For LoL, the players and coaching staff have already completed two preliminary training sessions and will return to the southern Korean city for one final major training camp, running from September 16 to 25.
The match will also serve as preparation for the Vietnamese roster, one of the three teams expected to contend for a top-three finish alongside South Korea and Taiwan at the event. China, however, will not be participating in this edition of the Asian Games. The other participating teams are Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, India, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia.
The competition will provide an opportunity to see four of the five players from T1's iconic ZOFGK roster play together once again: Choi "
" Woo-je, Lee "
" Sang-hyeok, Lee "
" Min-hyeong and Ryu "
" Min-seok. The roster will be completed by Gen.G jungler Kim "
" Geon-bu and Hanwha Life Esports midlaner Kim "
" Geon-woo as part of the six-man roster.
