DnDn will face off Canna in the LEC after regular practice with him
Park "DnDn" Geun-woo wasted little time in returning to Tier 1 League of Legends. Having joined Eternal Fire to compete in the TCL at the start of the 2025 season, the former Nongshim Redforce toplaner has now reached a verbal agreement with SK Gaming, sources tell Sheep Esports on Tuesday. DnDn will take over from Janik "JNX" Bartels, who was recently granted permission by the German organization to explore other opportunities, and will thus make his debut in a second major region: the LEC.
Multiple toplane options
Throughout the offseason, SK Gaming has considered various toplaners to take over their toplane spot. First, they heavily considered Volodymyr "Maynter" Sorokin. However, with the roster lock being on July 9th, SK Gaming feared they wouldn't be able to secure his visa for Germany in time — a worry that's been common among other teams this offseason for players coming from Ukraine or Turkey.
Misa Esports' toplaner Baek "Mihile" Sang-hwi was also heavily considered by the organization. Indeed, earlier in the offseason, SK Gaming made an offer to Misa to buy out the player for a low amount, which Misa declined. In return, the Turkish organization requested a higher, more standard buyout price. SK Gaming could not reach an agreement.
Lastly, former SK Gaming toplaner Joel "Irrelevant" Miro Scharoll was also considered, being free without a buyout. However, SK Gaming decided to commit to another player also available without a buyout: DnDn.
A transition to EMEA
Before being promoted to Korea’s top league, DnDn honed his skills in the NS Redforce academy, competing in the LCK CL. He notably won the second South Korean division during the Summer 2022 split. His strong performances at the academy level earned him a shot at the main roster, but his time with the first team was largely unremarkable. Over the course of two years, DnDn finished 10th in Spring 2023, 9th in Summer 2023, and 8th in both splits of the 2024 season, failing to qualify for playoffs at any point. He even returned to the academy for the final stretch of Summer 2024.
Although his final months in South Korea were challenging, his adaptation to the EMEA scene was relatively smooth. Eternal Fire emerged as the top team throughout most of the Winter Split. EF entered the TCL Grand Final as clear favorites after a dominant 3–0 victory over Papara SuperMassive in the upper bracket final. Facing SUP once again in the grand final, DnDn came close to securing what would have been the second title of his career, but EF narrowly lost 2–3, despite a convincing showing from their toplaner—barring a disappointing Game 5 performance on Galio.
1v1 practice with Canna
That loss not only denied EF and DnDn a spot at the EMEA Masters, but also marked the beginning of the roster’s decline. The momentum built during Winter completely dissipated with the arrival of Spring, as EF plummeted to the bottom of the standings. After going 11–3 in the Winter Group Stage, the team reversed course with a 3–11 finish in Spring, landing in last place. Despite the poor collective results, DnDn remained individually consistent, winning most of his laning phases. Staying true to his roots, he continued to perform well on Jayce and also regularly played Ambessa throughout the season.
Since arriving on the European solo queue server, DnDn has spent a significant amount of time practicing with Karmine Corp’s Kim "Canna" Chang-dong — the toplaner named to the LEC Spring 2025 All-Pro team. According to sources, Canna considers DnDn the strongest toplaner in the ERLs. After extensive practice together, the two will now face off once again — this time on the biggest stage in Europe.
Loopy, the lone survivor
At SK, DnDn joins a project also in need of rebuilding. The organization’s attempt to restructure around the 2024 BDS Academy core failed to yield results, as SK finished 9th in both splits, despite two roster changes between Winter and Spring. The Schroet Kommando will now make two additional changes, with DnDn’s arrival serving as the foundation of the team’s next chapter. The search for a new mid laner to replace Steven “RKR” Chen is ongoing. In the end, only Kim "Loopy" Dong-hyeon remained with the lineup for the entire season.
