Hanwha Life Esportsâ newest addition,
Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, made his debut with the team this week during the
2025 KeSPA Cup. He gave one of his first
post-match interviews to Fomos Esports while wearing his new jersey, sharing his thoughts on debuting with his new team.
Despite his past success, he admitted to feeling the nerves. âIt was my first match with a new team and new teammates, so I was actually really nervous. Iâm normally not the type to get nervous, but I did this time,â he shared. âThanks to how well my teammates played, though, I felt comfortable and could trust them throughout the game.â
Although the new roster has only been playing together for less than a week, Gumayusi said the environment already feels familiar. âItâs almost like Iâve been here for a long time. Our teamwork and overall direction will come together naturally under the coachâs guidance,â he said. Building chemistry seems to be progressing quickly both in and out of the game, emphasizing how âall the players are really nice and sociable.â So far, this also shows during games as HLE is still undefeated after four matches in the competition.
Reuniting with Zeus, learning with Delight
This move to HLE reunites Gumayusi with Choi âZeusâ Woo-je, his longtime T1 teammate. âIâve played with Zeus for a long time, so it feels completely naturalâno awkwardness at all. Heâs such a good player that Iâm looking forward to the plays weâll show in the future,â he said. In the botlane, he now pairs with Kim âDelightâ Dong-min, whose aggression and supportive instincts impressed him early on: âHeâs a support with a big strength in starting fights and making the AD carryâs life comfortable. I think syncing up with him is going to be fun, and I believe we can become the best bot duo.â
Gumayusi also expressed excitement about
working under Head Coach Yoon "Homme" Sung-young, someone he had admired since before joining. â
I first found out about Coach Yoon through an interview where he âsold me outâ in a good way,â he joked. â
After talking with him during negotiations, I could feel his leadership and clear sense of direction⊠Heâs going to lead this team forward without hesitation.â
Looking ahead and back at T1
When asked about his decision to join HLE, the botlaner explained that the respect showed towards him and the potential of the roster played a key role: âI thought a lot about what my goals are going to be as I continue my pro career. HLE showed a lot of respect for me and didnât lack anything, so I decided to move forward together with them.â
Facing his former team, T1, is something heâs both anticipating and respecting. âBecause Iâve played with those players for so long, I know their strengths very clearly. Theyâll be tricky opponentsâand now thereâs Peyz (Kim Su-hwan), whoâs a really good player too. But I trust my teammates, and I think weâll be able to put on a great match and win.â
