After a two-day event featuring the top-eight collegiate
Rocket League teams,
Northwood University have triumphed to lift the
CRL Fall Championship 2026 trophy, defeating Concord University in the grand finals 4-2. The Collegiate staple was fielding a roster of two imported Brazilian professionals João
"Motta" Motta and Arthur "
DRUFINHO" Miguel
who joined the University this semester to compete alongside Gwil
"Creamz" Muir. Both Brazilians are considered some of the most experienced professionals in the Collegiate system and
are expected to join M80 for the RLCS Club Championship. On their way to the grand finals the trio defeated Maryville 4-3 in a narrow upper bracket match, before beating West Virginia 4-2 in the semi finals. As a result of their title win, they have won a $6,000 prizepool and cemented Northwood’s status as one of the highest achieving Collegiate programs in Rocket League history. Substitute Andrew
"Druee" Prill and head coach Nicholas
"Nick" Marrone contributed throughout the season.
The trio placed second in the initial league play phase of the event with a 13-2 record, only losing out to their eventual grand finals opponents, Concord, featuring an all-European lineup of Shaun "Crispy" Murindagomo, Kieran "rehzzy" Hogan and Simas "simas" Gurskis. Qualifying for the upper bracket of the event, they faced Spring Champions Maryville University in their opening match, defeating Lucas "RelatingWave" Rose, Jack "Speed" Packwood-Clarke and Ario "arju" Berdin in a series that went down to Champions Field. They then defeated a West Virginia University side that had reached the event through the CRL Last Chance Qualifier, featuring a roster made up of Matt "matter" Ehresman, Jirair "Gyro." Papazian and Alixandrew "S5-Cosmic" Molina. While Concord University would take two games off the eventual winners, Northwood claimed victory after a 20 second overtime in game six.
As part of the event, Psyonix have already announced the details of the CRL Spring Championship, which is set to begin after a two-month lay off period. The open qualifiers will begin on January 10, with $60,000 in scholastic awards available to be won by the Collegiate scene.
