The final spot for the 2026
World Star Challenge Invitational for
EMEA is set. The
Liga Española de League of Legends (
LES) Summer Split champion,
, ran the gauntlet against
and
, the Turkish and German champions, respectively, and secured their spot in the first-ever international competition for Tier 2 leagues.
The Spanish organization had an eventful past couple of days. The first match in the Qualifier paired Fénix against the Wildcats. The fantastical birds set the tone for their ambitions with a convincing 3-0 win over the Turks, while the German Champion patiently waited for the qualifier match.
The final qualifier match promised two heavy hitters and certified fireworks. Both teams surpassed expectations in a thrilling spectacle, with each team winning games until the series reached Silver Scrapes. The series reached a fever pitch when the Spanish claimed their second Baron and Elder Dragon, and with a final push, Movistar Koi Fénix won the series 3-2.
EMEA’s convoy
Movistar Koi Fénix will be the third representative from EMEA. The other two slots go to the winners of the Winter and Spring editions of
EMEA Masters:
and
, respectively. The French organizations traded EMEA Masters finals and continue to rule their regional league. Their impressive form saw both teams play EMEA’s EWC Online qualifiers, and they’ll look to show their worth at WSCI.
Conversely, Fénix has ramped up to the end of the season. The Spanish Organization has accumulated a fourteen-series win streak since their defeat at the LES Spring Split Playoffs Semifinals, which they’ll look to continue at the international event.
The schedule for teams that reach the latter stages of the event could tighten even more. WSCI is set to run from
September 20th to October 2nd, and will overlap with the
Summer Edition of EMEA Masters. This forced a
format change to consider teams’ participation in the first-ever Tier 2 international event.
What is the World Star Challenge Invitational?
The World Star Challenge Invitational is the first-ever Tier 2 global tournament. It will feature the best 3 teams from South Korea, China, Asia Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas Tier 2 leagues. The final team to round out all sixteen participants will be decided on September 16th.
