have fallen to the 1-2 pool of teams at
League of Legends Worlds 2026 after losing a close match to
. Itâs heartbreak for the Blue Wall again as they looked very competitive for most of the game until a few key teamfights in the late game swung the momentum in favor of BLG.
With backs against the wall, KC will have to dig deep in the Bo3s to keep their tournament hopes alive. After the disappointing loss, Sheep Esports had the opportunity to talk with KCâs head coach Bok âReaperedâ Han-gyu
What are your main takeaways from this match, especially considering KC were quite close to winning both day before and today?
Bok
âReaperedâ Han-gyu: I mean, thereâs not much to be honest. BLG were just out-teamfighting us in the late game. The day before,
also outplayed us in the teamfights so we should be focusing on getting better teamfights.
What do you think is going wrong for KC in these teamfights? Is the team rushing to certain scenarios or getting caught off guard by certain engages?
Reapered: It isnât as simple as that. In these critical moments, one right click can decide everything. In the last teamfight today, if the Nautilus Q doesnât hit the Jhin, itâs a sweep. There are a lot of things like that even in the LYON game as well where one right click made the big change. We just have to watch and make sure the players are in good form to execute the fights better.
This seems like a complicated issue to solve. How do you fix this as the coach?
Reapered: Itâs not something that you can fix. Itâs all about the moment where the players are feeling it and are clicking better. It is something that gets better over time and not something that can be fixed immediately by saying âYo, you should do thisâ. I still believe my players have great teamfighting skills and they will do it in the next match.
During your time in Cloud9, you found great success twice at Worlds when starting from the Play-ins stage. Are there any takeaways from your time back then that you are teaching the KC players now?
Reapered: Itâs just the same approach as a Western team coming in here. There are only two types of teams in here. One is where it doesnât really matter if you are the favorite or not in this tournament if you want to have a great experience and gain something from it. The other is just tilting and giving up. We are still the first type of team and I believe in them. The matches were very close in everyoneâs eyes and we are very confident that we can pull it off in the Bo3s.
How does a Western team acquire this Play-in buff and perform when it matters the most?
Reapered: It depends because there is the advantage that you have extra stage time before anyone else. You get to have this experience so you get used to it. At the same time, the other teams have more time to figure out the meta and have more practice time. It is quite balanced and not just the Play-in teams having a straight up advantage. Ideally, what we needed was the stage time so Iâm happy with it.
After this KC match, it will only be Bo3s for the rest of Swiss Stage. The team found lot of success in the LEC in this format. Do you think there will be more confidence for the team going into these Bo3s?
Reapered: Yeah. I mean we should, right? We were very close to LYON and were stomping them but in the end, we got outclassed in teamfights. Even in the teamfights, looking back at the replay, itâs kind of cringe that we lost every single teamfight because one better click could have helped us sweep the enemy team. This game today was more complicated. We are going to face 1-2 teams anyway so we should be able to shutdown whoever we play against.
This is your first time at Worlds since 2022. What is something you would like to accomplish this time that you havenât done yet?
Reapered: I donât put anything specific in my mind, to be honest. Iâve been at Worlds eight times now. Itâs not about me wanting to accomplish something but more about having a good experience and success with my boys. It doesnât matter if the success is quarters, semis, finals, or winning Worlds. We will be happy with our result and be proud of ourselves. Even if we lose in the Swiss Stage and losing close games to the best teams, Iâm happy with it. At the same time, I would love if we go further in the event and if we lose, I want to lose against the eventual champions.
Who would you like to play against in the next match?
Reapered: Anyone except HLE.â
