G2 Esports have secured a spot in the top 4 at
VALORANT Champions 2026 with a
2-1 victory over T1, the final hope of VCT Pacific. With this result, three VCT Americas teams remain in the competition while Team Vitality is the only VCT EMEA team left. G2 will now have a rematch against 100 Thieves, with the latter hungry for revenge after falling to the lower bracket early in the playoffs. After the series,
Sheep Esports had the opportunity to chat with G2âs star Duelist Alexander â
JAWGEMOâ Mor.
Congratulations on the win, JAWGEMO. What are your initial thoughts?
Alexander "JAWGEMO" Mor: âHonestly, the first map was a blur for me. I know that I did good but I didnât really think much of it by the second map. It was just a lot of mistakes that weâre learning upon. The loss against Team Vitality grouped us back to figure things out about whatâs going wrong. I am kind of glad we had that loss against Vitality. We had a good game today, so thatâs pretty cool.
Despite the win, there were still some sloppy moments from G2, on Abyss in particular. Would you pin this more on T1 being a scrappy team in general, or on the mistakes that you guys are working on, as you mentioned earlier?
JAWGEMO: I think the only thing that was maybe scary were the fights as a five and the flanks. We were ready for most of the fights, and the guys had it in control. I think we werenât as fast as we normally are, so we kind of just got caught out by some of the flashes and Waylay ults. T1 were pretty methodical in their retakes; some guy was always holding an off angle or the opposite angle to the other one. It was a little bit harder since we didnât have a flash, so it was hard to get them off the line. Our teamfights and contact points have been pretty good recently, but itâs just Abyss; itâs been rough for us lately.
Speaking of Abyss, itâs often G2âs map pick, yet the team hasnât had a lot of success on it recently. What has made this map such an ordeal for the team?
JAWGEMO: We are like a Sentinel team, so we just like to have Sentinel Agents to hold something. Weâre losing to teams that do the same thing we do on the Attack, like showing something and then contacting before insta-popping from closer margins; I think thatâs the scary part. People are just really good at fog-of-waring on Abyss. It kind of gives us a little bit of nervousness and angst which makes us go âI have to go clear thisâ or âI have to go do this.â Maybe, itâs simpler and we are just looking at it wrong.
Itâs nice to see G2 back in the top 4 at an international, considering the poor end to Stage 2 relative to expectations. What was the turning point that helped the team return to its usual form heading into Champions
JAWGEMO: Obviously, all the news
about the roster changes kind of helped us out in one way. Thatâs the obvious elephant in the room. I mean, it is our last run as a team. It kind of reminds me of the EG days, where I knew it was the last run right after Masters Tokyo. Itâs the same concept of like the guys just being here to play and just trying our hardest, do what weâve been doing, add some more flair to our game, listen to the coaches, and figure out what weâve got to do in our day-to-day life.
It has made us more mature in the game, and we realized the mistakes that weâve been making for so long, such as losing 4v5s, 3vXs, and 1vXs. Now, with the prep and the work that weâve put in, itâs all showing. We are winning 2v5s and 2v4s. Those are the rounds that matters, and those are the rounds that kill teams as well. I am glad we are on the flip side of that, and itâs just making our gameplay more insane; we are listening and trusting each other. Itâs all we have left, and because of that buff, itâs the last dance and we are going to keep doing it. Thereâs nothing else to do, right? Weâre here for another week, whatever the case is.
We see quite often where teams on their last dance tend to perform really well due to the lack of expectations. How does this affect you, as well as your teammatesâ, psychological approach to the game on an individual level?
JAWGEMO: I think, psychologically, itâs definitely dependent on the person. People that are maybe still on the team are like âWhat do you mean itâs the last dance?â, or whatever the case is. I think itâs like buying into the team culture, and saying things you need to say upfront. Thereâs no point in saying things behind the back.
We are just trying to be as blunt and open, and the openness is a thing in your individual life that kind of brings out the best and worst out of you; we can see both sides of that now so we get to work on everything. Thatâs the hardest part about life in general, but whenever everyone is on board, and just living in the moment, it kind of makes things easy for everybody.
This is all weâve got, and weâre gonna keep doing what we have to do. I mean, what else is there to do? Itâs literally my motto right now. The team just plays together, does more stuff together, and hangs out; itâs making our team strong day by day. If we can lift the trophy then thatâs cool. If we donât, thatâs cool too because we did what we could.
Youâve had plenty of success, and been to many international tournaments with G2 and EG. Is there any moment during these trips that have stood out in your mind as something you would never forget?
JAWGEMO: This trip has probably been the most memorable one. Maybe, EWC as well for me, as I was changing roles and playing the secondary Initiator. It kind of opened up a new space in my head like âI could probably do this too.â We went back to what weâve been doing now. I just know my place a little bit more in certain aspects of what I bring to the team. I think being able to try different roles, doing other things, and being a leader when I need to be a leader.
Honestly, JoshRT (Josh Lee) has been teaching me how to be a leader, and just how to play the game a little better; shoutout to him for that. I think what you do in these teams helps you learn to be a better person. At the end of the day, itâs just a game. Thatâs how I look at it, unfortunately. Itâs about what you bring to the people around you, and the attributes that you bring to the next job. Itâs more refreshing that I know Iâm a good person behind the screens. As long as you grow up, and become a better person, I believe anything will be fine.
Do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share to the fans, and especially the new Chinese fans that you guys have garnered at this event?
JAWGEMO: I mean, jiÄ yĂłu. Thatâs the main thing you guys have always been telling me, just fight and keep fighting. It sticks to my head because we see a lot of Chinese fans around the hotel, and just around in general. Itâs inspirational because you donât usually get a bunch of fans running at you for signatures. I feed into that energy a lot, and I enjoy that. I saw BABYBAY(Andrej Francisty), and told him âEvery time you hop on stage, just get the crowd hyped.â It reminds me of Boostio (Kelden Pupello), and just seeing my main guy getting the crowd hyped. I told the guys today that if we win, the crowd would probably be on our side. Much love to all the Chinese fans, and all the regular fans. I appreciate all of the love and support.â
