CTBC Flying Oyster qualify for Worlds 2026 and make the LCP Finals

After a difficult year, the former kings of the LCP are finally back at the top, ready to reclaim their throne after qualifying for Worlds 2026. In both Winter and Spring, barely made the playoffs, finishing fifth each time. Now, after two roster changes and more time to gel, the squad could very well make a run at reclaiming the regional crown.

With CFO’s qualification, the LCP is the first region in the world to determine all three of its Worlds representatives. , one of two Vietnamese guest teams in the LCP, clinched the region’s third seed through Championship Points, effectively eliminating in the process. Meanwhile, back-to-back champions qualified much earlier and secured their spot at Worlds. Their seeding will now depend on their final match against CFO, with the two teams fighting for first and second place. Ultimately, however, little is at stake beyond seeding, as both teams will advance directly to the main event regardless.

Still the youngest of the major regions, the LCP saw the light of day only last year following the merger of the Asia-Pacific region’s minor leagues, most notably Taiwan’s PCS and Vietnam’s VCS. In its inaugural year, the LCP took on the world’s best, winning one historic series after another. CFO were at the forefront of those accomplishments, quickly becoming fan favorites around the world and proving that there was more to League of Legends Esports than the four established major regions of Korea, China, Europe, and North America.

In 2025, the Flying Oysters won every LCP split and became the first Taiwanese team in ten years to reach the Worlds Quarterfinals, marking a major shift in the balance of power within the region.

Unfortunately, when the 2026 offseason came around, CFO were picked apart and forced to rebuild, losing all but two starters: toplaner and AD carry . Though storied coach Wong "Chawy" Xing Lei remained at the helm, the team struggled to find its form throughout most of the year, eventually making changes halfway through the season in the midlane and support positions—two roles that had previously been among the shining lights of the previous CFO roster.

The arrival of and gave the team a new look, but the revamped roster needed time to find its footing.

While Split 2 came too soon for the revamped roster to truly shine, the squad finally found its footing in Split 3, claiming the first seed in the Swiss stage by beating TSW in a close five-game series. Although CFO subsequently lost to the defending champions in the semifinals, they now stand once more against the Vietnamese kings with another shot at reclaiming their crown, having clawed their way back to the top.

The squad will play its final match on August 30 as the LCP concludes—the first region in the world to do so—before taking a nearly two-month break ahead of Worlds 2026. The extended break, caused by the 2026 Asian Games taking place shortly before the World Championship in Allen, Texas, will give CFO plenty of time to prepare for their return to the international stage.
