Everything coming to TFT in 2026 is here
Riot Games gave players a sneak peek into 2026 during the TFT Paris Open Finals, sharing the roadmap minutes before the final lobby with the last eight players took place. From seasonal events to new sets and major tournaments, here is everything we know about what's coming to TFT next year.
Lunar Revel will kick off the year in January together with the return of the Festival of Beasts. Themed around the Lunar New Year and eastern traditions, Lunar Revel usually features past traits or champions with updated rules, allowing players to revisit a known format without fully replacing the festive feeling.
Details on upcoming TFT sets
In spring, Teamfight Tactics will move from the current “Lore & Legends” into Set 17, labeled as a “bargain for Celestial Favors.” According to Whalen, the vibe of Set 17 will be epic, not quite related to the gameplay itself, but it will be “universe and reality bending.” The mechanic of Set 17 can be described as very experimental, as it will “mess with a fundamental part of TFT,” said Whalen, who, in the latest dev video, mentioned the carousel is the system being revisited in 2026.
Pengu’s Party, celebrating TFT’s 7th anniversary, will come back next June. The celebration usually features missions, cosmetics, and a special game mode all centered around the game’s birthday.
The roadmap then moves to Set 18, scheduled for summer 2026 and described as a “journey through a mysterious forest.” The forest theme may introduce nature-based traits or map effects that could bring players through a more fairytale-like walk into the woods.
A "Tech Upgrade" for mid-2026
Around summer 2026, TFT will also receive a “Tech Upgrade.” This will not mean immediate changes to the game, but it will make some difference on the game side, as it will give Riot more flexibility that “especially needs a lot of UX,” said Whaler. The update will allow TFT’s team to work “more quickly” and “way easier” to upgrade the players’ experience both on PC and mobile.
“TFT has been around for 6 years now, we think TFT has got another 6 years and another 6 after that, and so it's important for us to go back to some of the fundamental tech. We grew out of League of Legends, we are using a lot of underlying tech we share with LoL and so we want to create a text tech for TFT so that we are able to move more efficiently and deliver on the things we want to do more effectively,” said Whalen.
With winter 2026 comes Set 19, teased as the game’s “biggest musical event yet.”
More music sets on TFT?
Based on past music-themed Sets—like the beloved Set 10—this could involve rhythm-based traits, audio-driven effects, or champions tied to in-game bands. According to Whalen, there were some features they were exploring for Set 10, like units and arenas’ motions changing with the beat of the song the units would produce, but the tech was not there yet. “Set 19 will be a great place for us to experiment with more music stuff that we were unable to make in Set 10,” said Whalen.
