UCAM to gets a new coach
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, UCAM Esports is set to acquire the services of Sergio "SGX" Catalá Sanchisas as Head Coach of their VALORANT professional squad. Some teams of the Spanish League had expressed an interest in recruiting him prior to this signing.
He was already with the Spanish structure, working closely with the club, as a student at UCAM, and coach of their university team. . With their roster, they recently won the UNIVERSITY Esports Masters 2025, Europe's largest student competition.
A local project
UCAM Esports team is currently competing in Challengers Spain Rising. SGX will work alongside current assistant coach Alejandro Mudarra, on a team coming off Split 2 where they finished in second place, behind KOI's academy team. With this result, they were able to compete in Challengers EMEA, but didn't make it out of the group stage with one win and one loss in the group phase.
He will replace Manuel "thinkii" Martínez, who had held the position since October 2023 and was dismissed by the organization on Monday, June 16. The club has been at the top of the national scene since Riot Games launched regional competitions in 2022, finishing almost every Split in the top 4, but without winning, despite taking part in three finals.
