PatMen didn't take long to find a new team
Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza did not remain without a team for long this offseason. Shortly after being moved to the bench by Paper Rex, the player will be joining Global Esports next season, sources tell Sheep Esports.
PatMen will therefore continue competing in the VCT next year after a highly successful rookie season in which he delivered remarkably consistent performances. He will join a Global Esports roster that has been particularly active during this offseason and has made its ambitions for next year abundantly clear.
PatMen to bring the solution?
The announcement of PatMen’s benching came as a surprise to fans only a few days ago, yet the Filipino player quickly secured a new destination. Replaced by Adrian "invy" Reyes at Paper Rex, PatMen will now bring his talents to Global Esports, becoming the team’s third confirmed signing.
The organisation recently competed in the SOOP VALORANT League qualifiers with its new additions. Kale "Autumn" Dunne and Xavier "xavi8k" Juan made their debuts with the roster, alongside Hector "FrosT" Rosario as the new head coach. Shortly thereafter, the team added Vladimir "vladk0r" Kornev as assistant coach, as previously reported by Sheep Esports, and has now secured another major pickup in the form of a recent Masters Toronto champion.
Initially joining Paper Rex as the sixth man for VCT Pacific Stage 1, PatMen swiftly replaced Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart and earned a permanent place within the roster. Despite a disastrous start in the group stage, he brought much-needed stability to the team, which ultimately qualified for Masters and went on to win the tournament. Even as a rookie, PatMen proved indispensable, helping PRX claim the VCT Pacific Stage 2 title as well. The team, however, finished fourth at Champions and opted for one roster change heading into next year.
PatMen will now join Global Esports, a team eager to achieve better results than in previous seasons. After consistently finishing near the bottom of the standings last year, the Indian organisation has overhauled much of its roster to build a fresh project—one that may finally lead them to international qualification.
