A new extension for Fnatic
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Fnatic has reached a verbal agreement with coach Milan "Milan" de Meij to extend his contract by two years after Boaster's re-signing for the VALORANT roster. This would secure long-term continuity behind the team’s current system after his mid-season promotion to head coach in 2025.
This is the second major commitment Fnatic has made this offseason, following the one-year re-signing of Jake “Boaster” Howlett. Results under Milan have been consistent at tier-one events, with Fnatic reaching the Grand Final at Masters Toronto, the Esports World Cup, and VALORANT Champions falling short of the trophy in each series. The organization’s approach signals trust in the current staff and core to convert those deep runs into titles heading into the next VCT cycle.
Why Milan’s extension matters
Milan transitioned from assistant coach to head coach during the 2025 campaign. He maintained continuity in preparation and in-series protocols while adjusting the surrounding staff.
Under his leadership, Fnatic reached the VCT EMEA Stage 1 title and the finals of three international events: the Masters Toronto final, where they lost 1–3 to Paper Rex on June 22; the Esports World Cup final, where they lost 2–3 to Team Heretics on July 13, and the Champions Paris final, where they lost 2–3 to NRG on October 5.
With this extension and Boaster's new deal, Fnatic is prioritizing stability and incremental improvement over a complete overhaul as they develop their 2026 VCT roster.
