Thayger is allowed to hear LEC options until October 25
Francisco "Thayger" Mazo Sánchez is set to join Galions as their new jungler for the 2026 LFL season, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. The 23-year-old Spanish player will replace Andrei "Xerxe" Dragomir, marking his first experience in the French league. Per sources, he also drew interest from KOI Academy and Barça eSports. Thayger was among Karmine Corp Blue’s options if Johnny "Yukino" Dang departed — though Yukino’s future remains undecided. Thayger also holds a clause allowing him to entertain offers from LEC teams until October 25. He had drawn interest from SK before the German team opted to retain Duncan ‘Skeanz’ Marquet.
Galions reportedly secured Thayger’s signing early to ensure they locked in one of the top jungle prospects available for next year. He is already their second confirmed player, following Šimon “OMON” Řiháček’s verbal agreement for the midlane.
Thayger has spent nearly his entire career competing in Spain, progressing from the second division to the LVP Superliga. He began his professional journey with Ramboot and UCAM, winning the Iberian Cup in 2022. In 2024, he joined Barça eSports, one of the Superliga’s top organizations.
A short stint in the LEC
With Barça, Thayger won his first and only Superliga title during the 2025 Spring Split, alongside teammates Paweł "Czekolad" Szczepanik and Sergio "Legolas" Vicente Gispert. The team also achieved Thayger’s best career result at the EMEA Masters, finishing as finalists after falling to Los Ratones in the Spring 2025 edition.
Following his strong performances, Thayger was called up to the LEC for the Summer 2025 split as part of Natus Vincere’s inaugural roster, after the organization took over Rogue’s league slot. However, NAVI later acquired Enes "Rhilech" Uçan on July 2 for their 2026 roster, confirming that Thayger would not remain with the team next season.
Do you believe Thayger should get a spot in LEC 2026?
In his last interview with Sheep Esports, Thayger stated, "I hope to be in the LEC. I’d be lying if I said I don’t think I’ll be there. I believe I will be in the LEC. I don’t know which team, but I think I’ll be there. I have hope." Instead, the Spanish jungler now joins the LFL, historically regarded as the strongest ERL in the EMEA ecosystem, where he will represent a top-tier team in Galions.
Galions are currently competing in the EMEA Masters Summer tournament following one of their best splits yet. Despite losing the LFL Summer Finals to Karmine Corp Blue, they remained undefeated throughout the regular split. Thayger’s addition aims to reinforce the team’s ambitions heading into the 2026 season.
