The LEC Summer Split begins in August 2
After several weeks of swirling rumors and speculation, per sources, the LEC offseason has finally come to a close. Five teams have made roster changes ahead of the 2025 Summer Split, all of which Sheep Esports has covered in recent weeks. Never before in LEC history have we seen so many roster shake-ups between Spring and Summer.
This upheaval comes as the league — criticized as the weakest major region following a disappointing MSI and the early exits of Movistar KOI and G2 Esports — tries to rebuild its reputation. The Summer Split will also mark the debut of Natus Vincere, stepping in to replace Rogue. Here’s our full recap of these changes, as Europe aims to regroup and fight for a spot at this year’s Worlds. Here’s a detailed look at what’s new and what these moves might bring. The LEC returns on August 2. The official schedule has not been announced yet.
Fnatic bets on new Korean talents
After three and a half years with Fnatic—one of the longest active stints in the club’s history — Marek “Humanoid” Brázda has been benched in favor of Yun “Poby” Sung‑won. Poby arrives directly from T1’s academy in the LCK CL, where he served as Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok’s backup for two years. Notably, he even stepped in for the GOAT himself during the Summer Split 2023 the legend was sidelined with a hand injury.
With this move, Fnatic brings fresh blood to the midlane, hoping to reignite their title hopes and, at the very least, secure another Worlds qualification. Another fourth place this Summer would be a synonym of early vacation, as Europe only benefits from three seeds for Worlds.
Team BDS locks in Boukada
After parting ways with jungler Doğukan "113" Balcı, Team BDS has secured the signing of Mehdi "Boukada" Lahlou for the 2025 Summer Split, sources tell Sheep Esports. From the very start of the offseason, Boukada was the organization’s top target. BDS still held tryouts with other candidates, including the experienced Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski and BK ROG Esports’ Enes "Rhilech" Uçan, but Boukada consistently remained their priority.
To finalize the move, BDS agreed to pay a buyout close to €200,000 — a significant investment for a player who had just one split left on his contract. Rather than signing him for a short stint, the organization plans to commit long term, with Boukada expected to sign a new contract lasting until the end of 2026. With this addition, Team BDS has now locked in their roster for the upcoming Summer Split, hoping this change in the jungle will bring fresh momentum and stability after a challenging Spring.
SK Gaming rebuild around three fresh new faces
SK Gaming is going all-in on change this Summer by adding Park "DnDn" Geun-woo in the toplane, Felix "Abbedagge" Braun in the midlane, and Duncan "Skeanz" Marquet in the jungle. DnDn joins from Eternal Fire in the Turkish TCL, where he earned praise as one of the strongest ERL toplaners. Abbedagge makes his return to the LEC after time in the LTA North, bringing veteran leadership shaped by stints with Schalke 04, 100 Thieves, and Excel.
Skeanz arrives from Papara SuperMassive, after a very turbulent offseason, with a reported €15,000 buyout, boasting three TCL titles to his name. Following Boukada’s transfer to BDS, these moves signal a full rebuild for SK as they aim to break into the playoff conversation for the first time this year.
Team Vitality promote Fleshy to stabilize botlane
Team Vitality are reshaping their botlane for Summer by promoting Kadir “Fleshy” Kemiksiz from their LFL academy roster. Fleshy, a 24‑year‑old Turkish support with prior experience in the LCS with Immortals and TCL with Papara SuperMassive, stood out during Spring as one of the highest‑rated supports in France.
His arrival follows the departure of Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer, who had role‑swapped from mid to support for the entire Spring Split—a gamble that ultimately didn’t pay off, leading Nisqy to step away from the roster. By bringing in Fleshy, Vitality aims to stabilize its bottom lane and rebuild around a more natural support specialist.
NAVI step into the LEC with a bold new roster
NAVI enter the LEC this Summer, taking over Rogue’s spot and assembling an almost brand-new roster. They retained toplaner Adam “Adam” Maanane and midlaner Emil “Larssen” Larsson, then secured jungler Francisco “Thayger” Mazo from Barça eSports. Thayger brings high upside after two Superliga finals and a spring national title.
The team also completed its lineup by signing AD Carry Lee “Hans SamD” Jae‑hoon from Ici Japon Corp. In a bold move, former jungler Kim “Malrang” Geun‑seong was moved into the support role — following in the footsteps of Nisqy’s earlier swap — after volunteering for the switch and practicing support since the Spring Split, rounding out what appears to be their finalized roster.
