Motiv Esports was definitely a springboard for talent. Following
the departure of Xan "xan" Ng to Rex Regum Qeon in VCT Pacific, as reported by
Sheep Esports on Wednesday, another member of the roster is set to make the jump to
VALORANT's top tier. According to our sources, Derrick "
Deryeon" Yee has reached a verbal agreement with
Wolves Esports for the remainder of the season. The Singaporean player will therefore join VCT China, where he is expected to replace Pong "SiuFatBB" Ka Hei, who announced on June 2 that he had been allowed to explore his options
before ultimately joining TYLOO.
Deryeon is no stranger to Tier 1 competition. After securing promotion through Ascension Pacific in 2023 with Bleed Esports, he represented the organization in VCT Pacific throughout the 2024 season. Bleed's debut campaign at the highest level, however, proved difficult, as the team remained near the bottom of the standings during both Kickoff and the two regular-season stages. Despite the lack of notable results, Deryeon was recruited by Global Esports ahead of the 2025 season, only to find himself benched following another underwhelming Kickoff campaign.
Although he returned to the server for two matches at the end of the regular season and later participated in the Esports World Cup Qualifier, the Flex player spent most of the year on the sidelines. In fact, he began the 2026 season in much the same position, remaining on Global Esports' bench for another split. Deryeon eventually resumed competitive play after Kickoff, dropping down to the Challengers level. Joining Motiv Esports after the team's qualification for VCL Southeast Asia Split 1, he played a key role in guiding the roster to the championship.
The Top Performer of VCL Southeast Asia Split 1
Despite lifting the title, Motiv Esports was once again forced to navigate a qualifier to earn a place in Split 2 of VCL Southeast Asia. The reigning champions, however, were eliminated during that qualifier and never got the opportunity to defend their crown. Deryeon's individual performances nevertheless proved enough to attract Wolves' attention. He finished the winning split with the highest
VLR.gg Rating 2.0 in the competition at 1.21 and posted the best K:D ratio across the entire event at 1.33. He, therefore, has logically been named MVP of the split.
Deryeon joins a Wolves project entering a period of transition following the departure of one of the organization's most emblematic players and its in-game leader. Since its unexpected run at Masters Toronto last year, the Chinese squad has largely returned to its customary place in the standings. Eliminated early during Kickoff 2026, Wolves failed to secure a single victory in Stage 1 and finished bottom of their group with a 0-5 record. Deryeon's arrival should provide a fresh dynamic, but considering both the player's and the organization's recent track records at the Tier 1 level, significant work remains if this move is to deliver the desired results.
