At just 19, Carlsen has already won the Superliga twice and completed a full year in the LEC
Carl Ulsted "Carlsen" Carlsen is reportedly set to join Galions in the LFL ahead of the 2026 season, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. After spending a year competing in the LEC as Team Heretics’ toplaner and being allowed to explore his options this offseason, the Danish toplaner is now returning to the ERL circuit. This will mark his first appearance in the French league. The last time he played at the ERL level was in 2024, when he won both Superliga's splits with Los Heretics.
For this move, Galions paid a small buyout to Team Heretics, as the Toplaner still had a contract with the Spanish organization until 2026. The buyout is estimated to be below 10.000 euros.
The Galions have been one of the most active teams on the LFL market this offseason. Even before their quarterfinal exit at EMEA Masters Summer, the French organization had already secured Šimon "OMON" Řiháček in the midlane and Francisco "Thayger" Mazo Sánchez in the jungle. With Carlsen’s arrival, they now lock in a third high-profile signing for their revamped roster.
Galions aims for the title
Galions, formerly known as Team GO or GamersOrigin, have long been one of France’s most storied League of Legends organizations. They have been chasing another LFL championship since 2020—the year they dominated both splits with Loïc “Toucouille” Dubois in the midlane.
Do you like this roster move?
In 2025, Galions built an ambitious roster designed to reclaim their glory days. However, in an increasingly competitive league that is very often regarded as one to forge future LEC talent, the team struggled to stand out early on, finishing 4th at Flash In and 5th in Spring. Their fortunes turned dramatically in Summer following the arrivals of Franciszek “HARPOON” Gryszkiewicz and Nikola “Xani” Zrinjski, which propelled them to an almost undefeated run. Their campaign ended in the grand final with a clean 0-3 loss to a resurgent Karmine Corp Blue.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Galions have already secured three well-known additions: OMON, one of the most promising prospects of the year who was once considered for LEC promotion. Thayger, returning from a split with Natus Vincere in the LEC and still under an LEC buyout clause. And now Carlsen, fresh off a full year competing in the LEC at only 19. Despite the ups and downs each of them experienced this season, the trio now reunites under the Galions banner with nothing less than the LFL title in their sights.
