The first civil war of the Worlds will see G2 Esports face off against Movistar KOI
The first day of the Swiss Stage at Worlds has come to an end, delivering eight thrilling BO1s filled with surprises such as 100 Thieves’ victory over Bilibili Gaming. There were also confirmations, with wins from T1, Gen.G, Top Esports, and Anyone’s Legend. Europe, on the other hand, had a rough start, suffering losses as Fnatic fell to CTBC Flying Oyster, Movistar KOI to KT Rolster, and G2 Esports to TES.
Eight teams now stand at 1-0: TES, AL, KT, T1, 100T, Gen.G, Team Secret Whales, and CFO. On the other side, sitting at 0-1, are BLG, MKOI, PSG Talon, FlyQuest, FNC, G2, Hanwha Life Esports, and Vivo Keyd Stars. The draw took place right after the final BO between Gen.G and PSG, and the upcoming matchups are as follows:
1-0 Teams Matches:
- CTBC Flying Oyster vs T1
- Gen.G vs Anyone's Legend
- Bilibili Gaming vs Fnatic
- Hanwha Life Esports vs PSG Talon
0-1 Teams Matches:
- FlyQuest vs Vivo Keyd Stars
- Team Secret Whales vs KT Rolster
- G2 Esports vs Movistar KOI
- Top Esports vs 100 Thieves
A sense of déjà vu
Several matchups on the 16th are rematches from earlier this year. The first, between Fly and VKS, is a replay of both the grand final and the upper bracket final of the LTA 2025 Championship, both won by the North American team. G2 versus MKOI needs no introduction in Europe, having faced each other twice in the Summer Split, three times in the Spring , and once in the Winter.
CFO and T1 previously played a very intense BO to open the MSI for the reigning world champions, which ended 3-2 in T1’s favor. Gen.G versus AL also met at the MSI Upper Bracket Semi-Final, with the Korean team winning 3-2. All of these BOs will be worth following starting at 7 AM CET, after which another draw will determine the next matchups.
