A new mid for Los Heretics
Los Heretics, one of the most accomplished teams in the Superliga, has just found their new midlaner. After the recent departure of Jan "Sajator" Zitek, the team's new midlaner will be Cengizhan "Mercy" Teker, a 20-year-old Turkish player.
Mercy is joining from Bushido Wildcats, a team that plays in the TCL, the Turkish Tier 2 league. According to Sheep Esports sources, Heretics paid the Wildcats a €7000 buyout to sign Mercy, who is now on a contract for the team until the end of the 2026 season.
The interest in Mercy from other organizations was notable: considered recently by even LEC teams like Movistar KOI, who held him as a second potential option in midlane, ahead of players like Kang "Saint" Sung-in. While MKOI eventually went on to sign first choice Joseph Joon “Jojopyun” Pyun, the fact that coach Tomás "Melzhet" Campelos’s considered him — as have other LEC teams — speaks to his potential as a talent.
Heretics brings in a TCL talent
Having played for Bushido Wildcats and Misa Esports in 2024, Mercy’s ERL results have yet to live up to the expectations set for him — despite being lauded as a top prospect, he only placed fifth and sixth in the TCL playoffs this year. meaning Mercy has yet to prove himself at the top Tier 2 level. If Mercy can level up and fulfill his greater potential, it could be a big difference-maker for Los Heretics.
Los Heretics, Team Heretics' academy team, are known for their high level of performance and consistency in the Spanish ERL. Since the team joined the Superliga, they’ve played in five domestic finals, picking up several championships. That includes three consecutive recent trophies, their streak broken by the previous split. But one critical area has seen repeat underperformances from them: EMEA Masters.
While still playing as Team Heretics, they won the tournament in 2022 Summer, but since then, they’ve been unable to make a real splash at the Tier 2 international event. This year, they found middling results in both EMEA Masters. With Mercy coming in, Los Heretics is looking to qualify to the tournament for a third time this year, setting their eyes on the trophy at the very top of ERL competition.
