Karmine Corp and Fnatic are the first two teams officially locked in for the Playoffs
The penultimate week of the LEC Spring Split kicked off with matches that sealed the fate of several teams. The pressure is mounting on Team BDS, which fell 0-2 against Fnatic, a team already locked in for the playoffs. A similar scenario unfolded with Karmine Corp, which secured its playoff spot with a 2-0 win over Rogue, bringing them to the brink of elimination from playoff contention.
Fnatic and BDS are the only two teams that will have finished all their regular split games by the end of this weekend. And with this defeat, the Swiss team no longer control their destiny. Even a win this Sunday can only keep their hopes alive for a 6th-place finish at best, especially as they now rely entirely on the outcome of the G2 Esports vs. Team Vitality match, which takes place later today.
Two teams stand above the rest
FNC vs. BDS gave us a chaotic series. Though Fnatic closed it out with a 2-0 sweep, both games saw BDS fight tooth and nail. Despite some solid early and mid-game leads, BDS were eventually worn down by Fnatic’s superior map movement. One player who continues to dominate in his role this split is Elias “Upset” Lipp, without a doubt. Fnatic even paid tribute on the toplane, picking Gragas with the Season 1 championship skin in homage to Maciej "Shushei" Ratuszniak, played by Óscar "Oscarinin" Muñoz.
As expected, the Blue Wall steamrolled Rogue, who looked lost. A symbol of in-game stability, KC remains firmly at the top of the standings and looks almost untouchable this regular season. Once again dominant in the midgame, they even indulged Adam "Adam" Maanane's creativity—he pulled out his Yorick pick on the toplane—but it wasn’t enough against Kim "Canna" Chang-dong, the current best toplaner in the league. The result was clear: 2-0. Rogue can only hope to end their split on a high note against Movistar KOI next weekend. Even in the best-case scenario with three wins, they are now mathematically eliminated from the playoff race.
The second day of the weekend will see Team BDS play its final match of the regular season against GIANTX, a must-win game if they hope to cling to a possible playoffs scenario. Their opponents are in the same position, setting the stage for a true mental battle. In the second match, G2 faces Vitality—two teams with the potential to contend at the top of the table. The Samurais are looking to bounce back after three straight losses, while Vitality is searching for consistency. Both teams sit at 3-3 in the standings, making this clash another pivotal moment in the playoffs race.
