The first team to qualify for MSI and EWC will be determined in two weeks
Having defeated both Team Vitality and G2 Esports over the weekend in front of their home crowd at the Arènes d’Évry-Courcouronnes, Karmine Corp secured the top spot in the LEC Spring Split regular season. This result granted the Blue Wall the privilege of selecting their opponent for the first round of the upper bracket playoffs, from among the three teams on that side of the draw: Fnatic (2nd), Movistar KOI (3rd), and G2 Esports (4th).
Rehareha "Reha" Ramanana’s squad opted to face the Spanish team, whom they will meet for the first time in a best-of-five series. The other upper bracket matchup, by contrast, will feature the LEC's "classic" rivalry — a clash that has already defined three finals of the 2024 season — between G2 Esports and Fnatic.
MSI and EWC on the Line
The encounter between Fnatic and G2 will open the playoffs on May 24 at 5 PM CET. The match between Kamel “Kameto” Kebir’s KC and Ibai Llanos’ KOI — the two clubs that recently hosted Roadtrip over the past three weeks — is scheduled for the same time on May 25. The winners of these two matches will meet the following day in the Upper Bracket Final, with a spot in the Grand Final at stake. The two losing teams will drop into the Lower Bracket, where GIANTX (5th) and Team Heretics (6th), who secured victory over Team Vitality on Tuesday, await. The opponents of GX and TH are determined based on the seeding of the two teams dropping from the Upper Bracket: as the 5th seed, GX will face the lower seed among the two, while TH will face the higher seed
This split carries a triple incentive. In addition to the title awaiting the successor to Karmine Corp, both Spring finalists will secure berths at two international tournaments: the Mid-Season Invitational and the Esports World Cup. The two competitions will take place back-to-back: MSI is set to be held in Vancouver from June 27 to July 12. The EWC will begin in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, four days later on July 16, and will conclude on July 20.
