Ruler is the fifth LCK player to reach 2500 kills
Gen.G secured their fifth straight win in LCK Round 3-5, but it also marked Nongshim RedForce's seventh consecutive loss. NS have yet to win a single Bo3 this Summer Split and haven’t even managed to take a single game. Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk was named MVP of the series and also reached 2,500 kills in the LCK, a milestone previously achieved only by Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu, Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong, and Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram.
The first game of the series was heavily decided in the early game. A three-man dive attempt on Kim "Kiin" Gi-in ended in failure and even the death of Son "Lehends" Si-woo, while on the other side of the map Gen.G executed their play to perfection and took the lead. From there, a classic LCK snowball allowed the MSI champions to secure Game 1. The second game began in the same fashion, with a gank from Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu in the toplane.
24 minutes per game
Nongshim tried to answer with a dive in the botside, but both the botlane and jungle died, putting Gen.G up 4-0 just four minutes into the game. The same scenario repeated itself in the toplane, and Nongshim simply looked unable to compete with the top LCK teams this Summer Split. Gen.G closed out the game with 33 kills and secured their 24th win in the race for the LCK title, holding an impressive six-win lead over their closest pursuer, Hanwha Life Esports.
Today’s LCK matches didn’t deliver major clashes, as the Rise Group saw Dplus KIA sweep DRX. But Friday, August 15, promises a big showdown for LCK and League of Legends fans: Choi "Zeus" Woo-je and HLE will face T1 once again. The two teams met earlier this month, with T1 taking a clean sweep. In the Rise Group, OKSavingsBank BRION will aim for an important win against DN Freecs, who could still be dangerous with nothing left to lose in this LCK split.
