FlyQuest will financially support the player's travel expenses for the Finals if the amount provided by Webedia is not sufficient
On Wednesday, FlyQuest has announced its financial support for Eterna ahead of the potential League of Legends Game Changers (LGC) Finals at Paris Games Week, ensuring the team can compete with its full roster despite limited funding from the league organizer, Webedia.
This move highlights FlyQuest’s commitment to fostering competitive play and supporting emerging teams in the scene, particularly in a time when funding for teams competing internationally remains a challenge. According to Sheep Esports sources, if FlyQuest had a larger budget, this support initiative might have evolved into a full partnership. Perhaps it is a plan that could be developed in the future for the North American organization.
A minor financial support to bridge the gap
Still, according to our info, Webedia, the company running the LGC, only provided €2,000 per team for travel to Paris Games Week, a sum far from sufficient to bring overseas players and staff. This left Eterna, which features two North American players, support Skylar "Virtuosa" Hew, toplaner Ivy "Starrie" Starr, and staff members like coach Max "Soligo" Soong, unable to cover expenses on their own. FlyQuest have stepped in to bridge the gap, funding the necessary costs to make sure the entire roster can attend and compete in the LGC Finals.
While some expected a full partnership or acquisition, FlyQuest clarified that this support is limited to logistics for the Finals. The team will continue to play under the Eterna name, as FlyQuest could not commit to a full investment at this stage. However, per sources, the organization remains open to pursuing a long-term partnership if the collaboration proves fruitful.
This development comes in the wake of FlyQuest’s recent public challenges, including the Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau situation a week earlier, who suffered backlash after making sexist remarks during a stream. FlyQuest made the strong decision to suspend their player for their first series at the Regional Championship against Vivo Keyd Stars. This choice to support Eterna is another way to underline FlyQuest's dedication to the development of the female scene.
