From Worlds final to DN Freecs, Deokdam and Peter to the rescue
In 2026, it won’t just be about turning the page for the DN Freecs; the team will have to write a new book in its history. To achieve this, the last-placed LCK team in 2025 has made three significant roster changes. Lee "Clozer" Ju-hyun arrives from OKSavingsBank BRION, where he had a respectable season.
The other two changes are equally noteworthy. DNF succeeded in securing the services of the Worlds 2025 finalist botlane, KT Rolster. Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil and Jeong "Peter" Yoon-su will embark on their second year together after a surprising season with KT, where they established themselves as one of the world’s best duolanes.
Is this enough to reverse the trend?
If these three roles are going to change, the other two will be retained. Lee "DuDu" Dong-ju is kept despite a difficult year, and the 2022 world champion Hong "Pyosik" Chang-hyeon is also retained. They will need to improve, as the ambitions are clearly higher with the arrival of a Worlds finalist botlane.
The coaching staff is also experiencing changes, with the arrivals of assistant coach Yu "Ggoong" Byeong-jun and Kim "Millimas" Geon-woo (strategy analyst). In 2025, the team finished the season 4-26, enduring long consecutive losing streaks. After breaking this long losing cycle, the team’s ADC, Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol, stated in an interview that they started playing without voice communication so everyone could click independently without complicating things.
A surprising decision for the botlane
The recruitment of Peter and deokdam is a real surprise in the LCK, as it doesn't happen often that a Worlds finalist joins the bottom team of the league. Peter was a huge revelation in the support role, especially since he wasn’t even supposed to play in the LCK, as KT's starting support was Han "Way" Gil. On the other hand, deokdam was sometimes replaced by Park "Paduck" Seok-hyeon. At Worlds, he proved he could perform at a very high level.
For Clozer, it will be the year or never to break out. The midlaner, trained at T1 and who was the backup for Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok at T1 a few years ago, after several years with Liiv SANDBOX and BNK FearX, joined OKSavingsBank BRION for a confirming year, where he showed he is a strong LCK midlaner.
