Nukeduck, Mithy, and Arrow get their accolades
Split 2 of the LTA North is well underway, and one standout team is FlyQuest: having placed first in the regular season and currently in the upper bracket of playoffs. That success has been in no small part thanks to FLY’s coaching staff, led by Head Coach Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm, with Assistant Coach Alfonso “Mithy” Rodríguez and Assistant Coach Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon. Now, the LTA North is showing recognition to the three by naming them the Coaching Staff of the Split.
One-of-a-kind drafts
This marks FlyQuest’s first time ever receiving the coaching staff award. It comes as no surprise to fans familiar with FLY’s distinct gameplay, often encouraging players like Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau and Kacper "Inspired" Słoma to pick unique champions. This style shocked the globe at Worlds 2024, when FlyQuest took the seemingly undefeatable Gen.G to five games in a tight best-of-five loss that saw picks like Nunu and Urgot used to their full potential. It’s that room for experimentation, and the tightly controlled gameplay they execute it with, that makes FlyQuest so fun to watch. The team's singular identity has only continued this split, as pocket picks like Nidalee top and Rumble support just keep getting locked in.
Nukeduck, the team’s head coach, joined FlyQuest for 2024 after coaching on 100 Thieves, as well as spending years as a top-level midlaner. Mithy, the former head coach for Cloud9, similarly played as a pro support, and Arrow played as an ADC. All three’s time spent as both pros and coaches has given FlyQuest’s players, especially their young botlane duo, the chance to learn from their wealth of experience. FlyQuest and its coaching staff will be tested on June 7th, when it will face Cloud9 in a best-of-five series. The team aims to qualify for the finals and MSI.
