The
University of Barcelona needed a change, and it has finally arrived. According to sources close to
Sheep Esports, mid laner Víctor "
Midnight" Caro Rodríguez has reached an agreement with the University of Barcelona for the Summer Split of the
Spanish League of Legends League (
LES).
He will replace Pau "Pauporter" Vintró, who is set to leave the Catalan organization after the Kickoff and Spring Split and, as things stand, is not expected to compete in the LES this coming split.
A veteran of the Spanish Tier 2 scene, Midnight has previously played for organizations such as Ramboot Club, LUA Gaming, Falcons, AYM Esports, and Movistar Riders, building up several years of experience in the national ecosystem.
A necessary change?
UB endured a difficult Spring Split. Finishing with a 0-7 series record and a 0-14 game record, the team struggled to find its footing throughout the league and ended the regular season in last place.
After betting on a very young project featuring four rookies alongside Xavier "Xixauxas" Fluxà as the roster's only veteran — who will continue as both support and Head Coach — the University of Barcelona hopes Midnight's arrival will bring more experience and stability to the mid lane.
Midnight, meanwhile, enjoyed a slightly better Spring Split, although it was far from a successful one. Playing for Falke Esports, he finished seventh in the regular season, though the team did secure a 2-0 victory over the UB and managed to take a game off LUA Gaming.
Midnight will now be tasked with leading a young roster from the mid lane as the UB looks to move on from its last-place finish in the Spring Split.
