Having reached the Paris Major after a successful Split 2 rebuild, FUT Esports came into the event as one of the favourites to claim the remaining North American slot at the World Championship. They cleanly navigated through the swiss and group stages, dropping only one game across five series against a mix of free-agent squads. They would meet a Jack "ApparentlyJack" Benton led Dignitas in the upper bracket of the playoffs, beating the team 4-2 to progress to the semifinals. This was followed up with a 4-1 victory over the young guns of M80, who were entering dark horse territory after knocking out Next2Nu Esports in the group stage. In the grand final they faced Gen.G, who swept XJM (xpurt, Juice, monk) in the upper bracket before enjoying their own narrow victory over Dignitas in the semifinals, which went all the way to Champions Field. FUT Esports proved their quality, overcoming the Korean organization in an impressive 4-1 victory, propelling themselves to the World Championship.
As a result, Chronic has extended his RLCS LAN streak to 14, including a fourth successive World Championship appearance. While jstn continues to relish a career renaissance, building on a legacy that extends all the way back to 2017. The 23-year-old will appear at his seventh World Championship and continues to prove that the ship has yet to sail on one of Rocket League’s most historic careers. He will compete for a second time with CHEESE at an RLCS World Championship, having played last season for the very organization they defeated in the final series of the LCQ.
