After seven weeks of competition and with 24 of the 25 disciplines completed, AG.AL International have finally won the 2026 edition of the
Esports World Cup, taking home seven million dollars in prize money for first place. For the first edition held outside Saudi Arabia, it was the Chinese organization that snatched the trophy from Team Falcons, winners of the previous two editions in 2024 and 2025. Between the two clubs, everything came down to the
Trackmania grand final on Saturday, August 22, the penultimate game and penultimate day of competition, and the success of French player Gwendal "
Gwen" Duparc.
All Gamers take the trophy at EWC26
Sixth in 2025 with only nine games featured, the Chinese organization made the 2026 edition a real objective, with 18 participations in total, making it the second-most represented club at the event, behind Team Falcons and ahead of Team Vitality. With this success, which was decided in the very final moments of the event, All Gamers prevented Team Falcons from claiming a third consecutive title, notably thanks to Gwen on Trackmania, as well as Khawaja "M. Zubair" Muhammad Zubair's title on Tekken 8.
In addition to these 1,000 points on Bandai Namco's fighting game and TM, the Chinese organization also reached two grand finals, on Honor of Kings, where they lost to Kuaishou Gaming, and in chess, where they lost to Magnus Carlsen. Alongside these two finals and the 750 points earned, All Gamers also came very close to taking the maximum on Free Fire, a mobile battle royale, where they finished second. On Teamfight Tactics, All Gamers also secured a podium finish, taking third place in Riot Games' auto battler behind Team Vision and Team Aurora.
A comeback for Liquid and a choke for Falcons
Behind them, Team Falcons took second place at EWC 2026, with the Saudi club tied with the Chinese organization before the Trackmania grand final, but no longer in control of its own destiny. Falcons still claimed two titles this year, on Street Fighter 6 and Rocket League, but also had a few setbacks, notably on Counter-Strike 2, as well as Dota 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. Those points lost along the way proved costly for the Saudi giant, although it still managed to hold onto second place without ever being seriously threatened.
Team Vitality indeed takes the final spot on the podium at this
EWC, just as in 2025, with the French organization finishing third on home soil in Paris. Victorious in the women's
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament, the Hive also had its fair share of setbacks, with
Counter-Strike 2 and
Rocket League obviously standing out. Just behind them, Natus Vincere took fourth place, notably thanks to a victory on
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, while Team Liquid secured fifth place overall after a strong comeback over the final two weeks, highlighted by the chess title and two runner-up finishes on
Crossfire and
Trackmania.
