, reflected on the day’s victory in an exclusive interview with Sheep Esports.
You're starting Week 3 on a great note. Can you share your thoughts on today's victory?
Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon: ”We did win today, but there were still some disadvantageous moments in the game, and those were quite significant, so I think I'll be focusing on improving those areas.
How would you evaluate today's overall performance, and what would you say were the key factors in the win?
Chovy: As for the win factor, first of all, my personal play was good enough that I felt satisfied with it, so I think I was able to have a significant impact on the game. And beyond that, our team play was also running fairly smoothly, which I believe is why we were able to win.
In Game 1, there was a skirmish around the level 3 timing on bot-side that could have looked a bit unfavorable. What were your thoughts and intentions behind how you played that situation?
Chovy: The mid matchup was Azir versus Akali, and I had been doing well in lane, so it was actually quite a burden to go and roam, but I chose to join in for the sake of team play. But as the fight kept getting pulled further down toward botlane, from mid's perspective, it ended up being a bit unfortunate.
Galio and Taliyah have a 0% win rate, and Ryze is also showing disappointing results. With champions like Anivia and Annie appearing in the meta, do you think it's become harder to play these roaming-type champions?
Chovy: In the case of Galio and Taliyah, it's kind of hard to create opportunities, and fundamentally, their laning power is just so far behind that I think that's why the win rates aren't showing up.
During Media Day, every team picked Gen.G as the top championship favorite, and Gen.G picked T1. Right now, which team does Gen.G consider their biggest threat?
Chovy: Personally, I currently think KT is the team I'm most wary of.
Recovering after the Brazil schedule is genuinely tough. At this point, do you feel the team's performance has gotten back on track to a normal level?
Chovy: Honestly it's hard to gauge exactly where we are, but what's certain is that I feel there's still a lot more we can do from here.
Is there a particular area you'd like to improve?
Chovy: There's the team coordination aspect for sure, but also the way each individual player reads and assesses the situation; there are quite a few gaps showing up in that area.
Your next match is against Hanwha Life. What do you think is most important for the team to focus on to secure the win?
Chovy: Team coordination is important, but I think if each individual's skill level goes up a bit more, we'll be able to win.
Do you have anything you'd like to say to your international fans?
Chovy: We will continue to find ways to keep performing well and show you an even better version of ourselves going forward.”
