Riot Games revealed on Tuesday, January 6 the official release date for its League of Legends universe fighting game, 2XKO, which was initially launched at the end of 2025. Already available in open beta on PC since October 7, the game will officially release on January 20 and will at the same time become available on consoles, on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
With an esports circuit already underway, this new title clearly aims to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors within the Riot ecosystem, while embracing the existing standards of the Fighting Game Community, with tournaments around the globe operated by local organizers.
11 characters for the release
The game currently features around eleven playable characters, with a twelfth already teased by the North American publisher. To satisfy Arcane fans, Vi, Warwick, Jinx and Ekko are already in the roster, and Caitlyn is very likely to be the next addition to 2XKO. Coming from the same region in the lore, Blitzcrank is also available, alongside champions from many parts of Runeterra. Yasuo and Ahri represent Ionia, Braum comes from Freljord, Darius from Noxus and Illaoi from Bilgewater, while Teemo is for now the only playable Yordle.

As expected with a modern release, the different versions of the game are linked through cross progression, making it possible to advance on PC and then pick up where you left off on console, or the other way around.
2XKOis a tag team fighting game where two players face off using teams of two champions each on a large, dynamic stage. Each team alternates between a front-line active champion and a second one in support. The gameplay is built around swapping characters: the second champion can be called in for a quick assist attack, or you can instantly switch places with your partner to catch your opponent off guard. Whether played solo, with one player controlling both heroes, or online in duo, with one character per player, the focus stays firmly on cooperation, team synergy and mastering combos.
