The second phase of the playoffs took place this week during the
LEC Versus. Over the course of the week, four teams were eliminated, while four others secured their tickets to Badalona, near Barcelona, for the LEC Versus Finals.
G2 Esports have already qualified for the grand final of the event, whereas the other standout teams of the weekend—
Karmine Corp,
Movistar KOI, and
GIANTX—will contest the final remaining spot that leads to the championship series.
Sheep Esports’ Team of the Week, limited to a maximum of two players per team, features toplaner Kaan “Naak Nako” Okan, jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan, midlaner Rasmus “Caps” Winther, AD Carry Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek, and support Alan “Busio” Cwalina. In recognition of two high-level performances against formidable opposition, SkewMond has been named our Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the week.
Toplaner: Naak Nako
Naak Nako once again earns a place in our Team of the Week, even following Team Vitality’s elimination at the hands of Karmine Corp. The Turkish toplaner once more demonstrated the extent of his talent, almost single-handedly dismantling Fnatic—most notably with an unkillable K’Santé performance. Against Karmine Corp, although he delivered strong laning phases and was the best player of this team, he proved less influential than Kim “Canna” Chang-dong and committed a handful of errors, which nonetheless do little to diminish the overall quality of his week.
Jungler: SkewMond (MVP)
SkewMond is our LEC MVP of the Week. Matched against two formidable opponents in Karmine Corp and Movistar KOI, the French jungler produced composed and authoritative displays in both series. Despite a momentary lapse in smite control against Martin “Yike” Sundelin—which could have allowed Karmine Corp back into the game—he ultimately delivered well-rounded performances throughout. Against Movistar KOI, his impact was unmistakable, as his reads and shot-calling consistently proved accurate and decisive.
Midlaner: Caps
Like his jungler, Caps turned in two outstanding performances against two of the league’s strongest laners. Against Karmine Corp, he secured the game’s MVP thanks to his early-game movements, which placed his opponents under sustained pressure, before anchoring the late game on a Ryze who finished 12/1/10. He replicated this level against MKOI, producing three controlled laning phases and exerting comparable influence to propel his team forward, despite Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun’s persistent efforts to challenge him.
AD Carry: Noah
GIANTX have steadily advanced through the lower bracket, due in large part to the performances of their AD carry across the last two matches. Frequently criticized for his displays in high-stakes series, Noah rose to the occasion this time, helping propel GIANTX into the league’s top four. Named MVP of a somewhat scrappy best-of-three against Team Heretics, he followed up with a solid showing in the victory over NAVI, notably making effective use of an Ashe–Seraphine combination that finally found success in Europe.
Support: Busio
Amid fluctuating performances from many supports this week, Busio stands out despite Karmine Corp’s loss to G2. He notably delivered a strong Seraphine performance in the second game of that series. Later pressured by Team Vitality, Karmine Corp were able to rely on the contribution of their American-Polish support to close out the best-of-three, with an omnipresent Alistar that consistently disrupted the Bees’ plans.
