Dressed in blue, the new generation of gladiators will be entering Les Arènes from 20 to 21 September. Karmine Corp has become the resident club at Les Arènes, a stadium in Évry-Courcouronnes and will be taking to the field for two matches, one on
League of Legends and the other on
Rocket League. On Friday 20 September, the Pitchounes from Karmine Corp Blue will be inaugurating their new home for the Coupe de France quarter-final. The opposing team will also be on site.
This will be followed by a second ‘surprise’ match featuring Axel "Vatira" Touret and co. against an as yet unknown team. Tickets for each of the two events on the opening weekend will open on 29 August, with prices starting at 12 euros.
Announced last year during KCX 3 at La Défense Arena, the news caused quite a stir. Not least because the Prestigious would become the first esport club in the West to organise regular events and matches for its fans, in what would become their new home. The symbolism is all the more touching given that the club's founder, Kamel "Kameto" Kebir, has really lived in this neighbourhood - near Paris - all his life.
The French club is shaking up the codes of esports worldwide with this new stadium, which has the capacity to accommodate three thousand people. This is a first, as some clubs posses infrastructures that can accommodate a few hundred fans, but never more than that, especially in the West. As well as opening a shop in the near future, Karmine Corp will only host a handful of events at Les Arènes in 2024, before gradually expanding its room for manoeuvre in the years to come,
according to L'Équipe.
