DRX announced on Thursday a significant update regarding their
VALORANT roster: as previously reported by
Sheep Esports, Minhyeok
“Flashback” Cho will not be competing in the
VCT Pacific 2026 season. The organization stated on Thursday, January 8
on X that the player
is stepping away from the competitive scene ahead of next season’s start, effectively bringing his tenure at the highest level of
VALORANT to a close.
According to the release, developments accelerated following the conclusion of the 2025 offseason. Flashback reportedly approached management to discuss his future before formally requesting the termination of his contract. DRX explain that he wishes to “refocus” and restructure his life away from competition. The club further emphasizes that the process was handled in a deliberate and structured manner, with multiple discussions aimed at understanding and framing the decision. The organization maintains that it respects his choice and intends to support Flashback through this transition.
Although the news may feel abrupt for fans, DRX insist they remain fully committed to their objectives. The team reiterates its intention to continue competing at the highest level and to prepare
“tirelessly” for the VCT 2026 season, despite this substantial change within the roster. As a result, DRX have had to identify a replacement, and the Korean organization has
opted to recruit Ahn
“Hermes” Byeong-wook, a player from
FEARX who competed in Korea’s tier-two circuit throughout 2025, as previously reported by
Sheep Esports.
To conclude their release, DRX thanked Flashback for his passion, commitment, and everything he contributed under the organization’s banner, following a strong end to the season, most notably a top-three finish at
Champions 2025 in Paris. The organization also encourages supporters to wish him the best as he formally departs
VALORANT esports.
