Riot Games revealed on Wednesday all the details of the first-ever
Americaâs Cup, a competition between teams from the
League of Legends Championship Series (
LCS) and the Circuit Brazilian
League of Legends (CBLOL). The inter-American competition had already been announced before the start of the season.
The spirit of rivalry desired between North and South America wasnât achieved through the creation of the League of Legends Championship of The Americas, known as the LTA. Audiences didnât approve of the merger of both regions in 2025. LCS Commissioner Mark âMarkZâ Zimmerman commented before the start of the 2026 season: âNow, just because the LTA has been sunset doesnât mean weâre abandoning everything about it. We still see value in continuing to promote cross-regional competition in the Americas, but just not as part of the core format.â
Detailed information on the Americas Cup
The Americas Cup will run from March 4th to 8th, just eight days before the start of First Stand. Both tournaments will be played on Riot Games Arena in SĂŁo Paulo. Brazil. The tournament will feature a Fearless Draft Double Elimination Bracket. Round 1 will be the only round played as a Bo3 series, while the rest of the tournament will be played in Bo5s.
The tournament will feature the second and third-place finishers from the LCS 2026 Lock-In and the CBLOL 2026 Cup. As of this article's publication, four teams have guaranteed a spot: Cloud9 and Sentinels from the LCS, and LOUD and RED Canids from the CBLOL. These teams have guaranteed at least a third-place finish in their respective competitions but can still forego their eligibility by winning their split, thus qualifying for First Stand. March 1st is the date when all four teams will be decided.
Whatâs at stake?
Aside from defending each regionâs pride, the winner of the Americaâs Cup will be provided a fully funded, two-week boot camp in South Korea, the home of MSI 2026. Teams that do not qualify for the South Korean boot camp will be able to do so through other means. From the CBLOL, the second and third-place finishers from Split 1 (Spring Split) will qualify, while the LCS will send only their third-place team. If a team qualifies through multiple paths, the additional slot will be awarded back to their league, allowing up to four LCS teams or three CBLOL teams to train in Korea.
Starting on February 19, fans interested in attending the Americas Cup can buy their tickets. Tickets are available for 60 BRL or 120 BRL, which is approximately 11.50 USD or 23 USD. The former includes a discount for students, while the latter is the full price.
