Streamer and former
League of Legends pro player
won’t return to pro play to participate in the United Kingdom’s team for the upcoming Esports Nation Cup.
After sharing with his audience that he was offered the position of midlaner in the ENC UK League team, Caedrel seemed undecided on whether to accept or not the position. UK’s national team manager for ENC, Jeff Simpkins, confirmed to Sheep Esports that Caedrel turned down the offer.
During a live stream on April 19th, Caedrel shared with his audience that the UK team asked him if he wanted to play mid for the League team. “
But if I played mid that basically means I have to go back to being pro and I don't know if that's a good idea or not,” said the streamer before admitting to being “
kinda scared” at the thought of how much
League he would have had to play.
“We were really keen for him to come out of retirement”
“
I feel like this would be the only chance I get to ever go back to pro [laughs], but I don't know if I’ve got it in me. I feel like… it might sound like a bad excuse but my health's getting pretty bad when I start grinding League cause I get this obsessive personality that I just play only and I – it ain't good,”
Caedrel said. According to him the UK is making together a “
very serious” team for ENC’s
League competition, led by a “
quite popular” coach.
“I can confirm we did approach Caedrel,” said Simpkins to Sheep Esports. “We were really keen for him to come out of retirement, play with some familiar faces and lay midlane again. Our hope was that there would be some really good existing team synergy and good rapport amongst them as well as just being really good content for him.” The country manager also mentioned how “on the fence” Caedrel was about the decision to participate.
Between mentioning his future Worlds co-streaming in NA and a tough grind in solo queue ahead, Caedrel also had talked about the possible “cool content” he’d be producing if he accepted the offer to play in ENC. Ultimately, he must have decided it was not worth the trade.
UK LoL team for ENC 2026
The team from the UK has not been revealed yet, but the wait is about to end. According to Simpkins, UK’s head coach for the League’s team at ENC will be revealed tomorrow, April 23rd.
While fans wait for the team to be announced, both Caedrel and Simpkins’ comments might give them a general idea of who could be part of the roster. A “tryhard” team with a “very popular coach” that supposedly has all “really good existing team synergy” is therefore what fans can expect from UK’s League team.
“We are a little way off confirming the full roster just yet and will be looking at a couple of mid lane options in particular,” concluded Simpkins. While Caedrel’s return to the midlane won’t happen this time, the UK roster is still shaping up to be a serious contender for the ENC Qualifier . With the full roster yet to be revealed, there’s still plenty of room for speculation — and perhaps a few surprises — before the team is finally locked in.
