Without a team since the end of his long stint with
Karmine Corp in Spring 2024, Lucas "
Cabochard" Simon-Meslet has now joined
Shifters’ coaching staff for the current
LEC season, as announced by the team on Thursday. The former LEC toplaner, who notably competed at
Worlds in 2018 with
Team Vitality, will be entering his first year as a coach.
He will work alongside the team’s Head Coach, Yanis "Striker" Kella, whom he previously collaborated with for three splits at Karmine Corp when the organization was still competing in the LFL. Cabochard had already made brief on-stage appearances with Shifters’ coaching staff after matches, without any official announcement, before the Swiss organization confirmed his arrival this afternoon through its social media channels.
Today, aged 28, the former French toplaner brings with him extensive professional experience. He began his EU LCS career in 2014 with Gambit Gaming and remained a fixture of Europe’s top league for many years, particularly after joining Team Vitality in 2016. He contributed to the organization’s only qualification for Worlds in 2018 and was named to the LEC First All-Pro Team in both 2016 and 2019.
Hard start for Shifters
He later joined Karmine Corp in 2021, where he became a "légende du club®", a central figure for the organization’s fanbase, even declining an offer from Fnatic in 2022 to remain with the French club. His return to the LEC, however, did not unfold as hoped, and Karmine Corp opted to replace him ahead of the 2024 Summer Split with Kim "Canna" Chang-dong.
Despite this addition to the staff, Shifters have experienced a mixed start to their LEC campaign. After an encouraging first week that ended with a 2–1 record, the team struggled to build on that momentum in Week 2, suffering three losses,
including a defeat against Los Ratones despite holding a significant in-game advantage. With Cabochard's expertise, the team will try to make up ground from the break in the third week.
