The first champion to be exclusive to
Wild Rift will finally be available on ranked this Friday. Last November, Riot Games announced that
Norra would become
the first champion playable solely on the mobile version of League of Legends. Today, the studio released additional information regarding the champion’s lore and abilities.
Already familiar to fans of the universe’s lore, Norra had previously made brief appearances in certain sets of Teamfight Tactics as well as in Legends of Runeterra. Known as the master of Yuumi, the character is a yordle, and it had already been established in the lore that the cat and her book were searching for their owner. The biography released alongside the champion confirms that Norra now has a home of her own and is likewise seeking a way to reunite with her companion.
In a
short story serving as an introduction to the champion, Norra is depicted searching for an object among the numerous volumes in her library. With Yuumi’s assistance, she eventually locates it, and after a series of minor mishaps, the two companions end up sharing a moment of laughter. Norra is then shown elsewhere, reminiscing about a fond memory with her cat. She opens a portal in the hope of finding both her companion and the path back to her home.
As her title, the Portal Mistress, suggests, Norra possesses the ability to open portals and travel across the world. Her gameplay revolves around this thematic element. Her passive ability scatters objects across the ground, dealing additional damage to enemies who walk over them. Her Q ability is a charged projectile comparable to Xerath’s Q.
Her W allows her to send champions into a parallel dimension, rendering them untargetable while simultaneously slowing them and preventing them from attacking. Her E creates two portals that close in on an enemy, dealing damage and slowing them. Finally, her ultimate ability conjures a magical circle from which she can launch four projectiles between designated points within its perimeter.
